- I'm thrilled to see the state continue to lead the way in innovative solutions to build housing more quickly & affordably. That's exactly why I'm leading the Select Committee on Housing Construction Innovation. I've learned a lot about prefab construction and believe it can be part of the solution.
- This afternoon, our Select Committee on Housing Construction Innovation held its second hearing — focused on how we move faster, smarter, and more affordably by modernizing how we build housing in California.

- California has made real progress on land use and permitting — but we still aren’t building housing at the scale we need. One reason: the way we build homes hasn’t kept pace with innovation. That’s what our new Select Committee is focused on.
- 🧵 Today, the CA Assembly Select Committee on Housing Construction Innovation holds its first public hearing — focused on how modern construction methods can reduce costs, accelerate timelines, and help solve California’s housing crisis. Follow along ⬇️
- Betty Reid Soskin was a defining presence in our district, and a force for truth, memory, and equity. At the Rosie the Riveter site in Richmond, she helped ensure our history was told fully and honestly. That work, and her legacy, will endure.
- California won’t solve its housing crisis unless we reduce construction costs. Our new Select Committee on Housing Construction Innovation will explore the tools and technologies that can help us build more homes, faster and more affordably. 🔗 Press release: a14.asmdc.org/press-releas...
- In 2026, I’m interested in attending fewer bill signing ceremonies & more ribbon cuttings. Because our success isn’t measured by how many bills we pass – it’s measured by how many problems we actually solve. Read on for more of my 2025 reflections/2026 goals: www.linkedin.com/pulse/its-to...

- Last night I joined @TernerCenter for their 10th Anniversary celebration— marking a decade of research driving real housing solutions in CA. We discussed what’s next for housing reform, the push to lower construction costs, and turning new laws into homes for Californians.
- Because of the federal shutdown, CalFresh (SNAP) benefits are being delayed for millions of Californians. If you need help: 📞 Call 2-1-1 🥫 Visit cafoodbanks.org/shutdown 📍 Find food banks in AD-14: a14.asmdc.org/food-assistance-resources No one should go hungry because of Washington gridlock.
- For too long, it’s taken years — sometimes decades — to build the homes our families need in CA. Endless red tape, slow approvals & outdated rules have left too many Californians struggling to find or afford a place to live. The Fast Track Housing Package changes that. youtube.com/shorts/TLdS0...
- Yesterday’s warnings forced families to brace for raids that never should’ve been planned in the first place. Calling them off is the right move — but the damage to trust and safety is real. We’ll stay organized, peaceful, and ready to defend our neighbors.
- Trump’s use of federal agents for immigration sweeps is an evolving situation across the Bay Area. As details unfold, let’s keep our focus on protecting each other — not feeding the narrative Trump wants to spin.

- Let me be clear: San Francisco does not want or need a military occupation. Despite Republican fantasies to the contrary, San Francisco has a lower crime rate than many Republican-run states and municipalities.
- It was wonderful to tour the People’s Park Housing site & see this long-overdue project moving forward on schedule. By creating homes for more than 1,000 students, we’re easing the campus housing crunch, stabilizing rents, & strengthening the surrounding community — a win for everyone.

- For too long, opening a restaurant in CA has meant endless hurdles & delays. With @governor.ca.gov's signature on AB 671, we’re making it easier for small restaurateurs to turn their ideas into reality — opening doors faster, hiring sooner & bringing new energy to our main streets.
- Great morning at Berkeley’s Emerson Elementary for Int’l Walk & Roll to School Day — so many students starting their day w/fresh air & community! Special thanks to everyone who donated helmets in appreciation of Mr. Bob, a beloved volunteer whose own helmet recently saved his life.
- California’s leadership in quantum innovation starts right here in AD-14. Congratulations to @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social Professor John Clarke on receiving the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics — a remarkable achievement that reflects the cutting-edge research happening in our own backyard.
- John Clarke, UC Berkeley emeritus professor, has been awarded the 2025 #NobelPrize in #Physics. The @nobelprize.bsky.social committee honored Clarke "for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunneling and energy quantization in an electric circuit." news.berkeley.edu/2025/10/07/j...
- This law is about dignity and fairness for the people who keep California moving. With AB 1340, drivers finally have a meaningful seat at the table to stand together, bargain for better pay + protections, & help build a gig economy that works for the people behind the wheel.
- Quantum will define the future — and w/AB 940, California is claiming its place at the forefront. Thank you @governor.ca.gov for signing this bill to position CA to lead in quantum innovation, create good-paying jobs, and unlock immense economic value for our state.
- I’m horrified by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It’s a heartbreaking, terrible moment for all who believe in democracy, and the greatest loss imaginable for his family. Political violence like this must be condemned forcefully and unequivocally. My heart goes out to his family.

- A huge win for Californians, whether they are behind the wheel or riding in the back. Now, 800K drivers have a seat at the table to fight for fair wages & better working conditions. Grateful to the Governor, leg. leaders & labor + tech partners who made this happen. www.latimes.com/california/s...

- Big thanks to everyone who came out for our Wildfire Preparedness Day in El Cerrito! From evacuation planning to home hardening, AD-14 showed up ready to prepare. Deep gratitude to my constituents and to our local elected officials who joined us — you help make our district stronger and safer.
- Too often, we talk about wildfires after the damage is done. Let’s flip that script. AD-14 residents, join me Aug. 16 at El Cerrito City Hall for a free, family-friendly event with experts, local fire chiefs, resources, and kids’ activities. RSVP: asmdc.org/bz-wildfire
