- Sad :'(
- attention ever who wants to travel to @freieuniversitaet.bsky.social
- Reposted by Marko Bachldplyr 1.2.0 is out now and we are SO excited! - `filter_out()` for dropping rows - `recode_values()`, `replace_values()`, and `replace_when()` that join `case_when()` as a complete family of recoding/replacing tools These are huge quality of life wins for #rstats! tidyverse.org/blog/2026/02...
- You should all absolutely read this paper by @ifpuk-berlin.bsky.social @freieuniversitaet.bsky.social's Miriam Siemon.
- Super example for the value of descriptive research. Also very nice presentation
- Short announcement before the data get too old: ccsmainz.github.io/platformnews/. With 571 news outlets on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram across 46 countries, matching the @reutersinstitute.bsky.social DNR. Computational analyses on topics, platformization, diversity, etc. Feedback welcome.
- Read this paper, it's good
- Don't know anything about the presentation, but amazing title chart
- I had the absolute pleasure to visit @craicexeter.bsky.social, where I laid out an argument for how critical & computational scholars should lead the conversation on AI. We need to expand research on harms, interrogate corporate hype, and support people’s critical understanding these technologies
- Now that 5/5 day seems to have moved almost completely to Linkedin, it seems like a good time for me to quit academic social media. #ica26

- this is true, and truly sad :(

- After 3 years and 5,322 emails (and counting) our Encyclopedia of Political Communication is finally out at @elgarpublishing.bsky.social 📚 Three volumes ⭐ 431 entries 🎓 581 wonderful authors from across the world A very short 🧵
- You should absolutely apply to work with @dstoltenberg.bsky.social on this important project!
- 📣 Job alert! 📣 For my Emmy Noether group on local digital public spheres, I'm hiring 3 predoc research associates who are interested in doing qualitative/mixed-methods research on local communication environments. Apply until 02 Jan 2026! www.weizenbaum-institut.de/en/news/deta...
- TIL about a new form of fraudulent academic publishing. A student pointed me to this article in the repository of the University of Limerick, doi.org/10.34961/res..., asking whether it is a credible source.
- PSA: If you have somewhat chaotic folder and project structures in RStudio or Quarto projects, don't update {here} to 1.0.2: github.com/r-lib/here/i... Broke my lecture materials website (presentation project within book project) and cost me an hour of sleep to figure out what went wrong. #rstats
- Come visit us in Berlin
Einreichungsfrist: 30. März 2026. #CfP www.weizenbaum-institut.de/digikomm2026/
- This semester, I am teaching the third iteration of my "Content Analysis with Generative LLMs" class. For the first time, I am using a local cloud infrastructure, supported by the de.NBI infrastructure, instead of the OpenAI API. They published my testimonial here: cloud.denbi.de/about/testim...
- As sad as it is to read another LLM-generated student proposal, at least TIL that LLMs have deeply internalized this classic PDH comic, at least the colon part: phdcomics.com/comics/archi...

- This paper seems relevant, claiming (per title) "AI-assisted audio-learning improves academic achievement through motivation and reading engagement" (doi.org/10.1016/j.ca...). Yet, excluding half of the treatment for not listening to the podcast seems like a problem, no?
