- The state of mental health care in Germany has been a huge discussion issue in my circles and these findings are fascinating but also concerning -- expanded capacity does not automatically reach those most in need.

We document 2 unsettling patterns in mental health care: 1) despite universal coverage, few individuals with mental illness receive guideline-consistent treatment, and 2) the more severe the illness, the lower the treatment uptake & the longer the wait times. 1/n

- Yesterday I underwent fire protection training and learned that (1) if there‘s a legit alarm, the city pays, but (2) if it’s a false alarm, the cost is passed all the way down bc university can no longer afford to cover the bills centrally.>
