OK this makes me extremely angry. Has everyone forgotten the massive profiteering from thousands of avoidable pandemic deaths?? The unconstitutional suspension of parliament to force through an act of nationalist destruction that cost our children their future??
“It’s potentially the biggest political scandal of this century”
As MPs force Keir Starmer to publish files about Peter Mandelson's appointment as US ambassador Skys Beth Rigby provides a detailed summary of how we got here

The GOP’s new Voter Suppression bill, the so-called “SAVE Act,” would disenfranchise many of the 69 million women who took their husbands’ last names, as explained in my summary.
It proposes *no penalties* for erroneous voter purges but potential *prison time* for erroneous registrations. WTF?! 1/
The GOP wants to “DOGE” our state voter rolls. Their so-called “SAVE Act,” wld require ongoing voter purges using citizenship data from sources such as the DHS’s “SAVE”program & SSA.
It proposes *no penalties* for erroneous purges but potential *prison time* for erroneous registrations. WTF?! 1/

Starmer will be maligned, mocked and taunted for sometime….
His legacy for me though will remain a man who tore apart the dangerous Johnson and brought that monstrous Tory government to its knees.
I’m in part devastated for him. He remains in my eyes a good man who was so badly advised.
Sometimes I just need Private Eye ….

A publisher who lays off a reporter whose pen is freezing because she's covering a frigid war zone while dodging missiles is not an editor you want to work for, in a more perfect world
Also universities.
hot take: newspapers should not be run by people who dislike reading and thinking
"It shows, frankly, how 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 Trump has become - and how low standards in American public life have sunk."
Watch the moment Donald Trump snaps at a female reporter who dared ask him a question about Epstein victims…

I have never seen anger like this on the Labour benches in private and in public. This is the kind of territory where things can move very fast.
My advice to Starmer.
Fire McSweeney into the sun then stop chasing Reform voters and concentrate on implementing proper Labour policies.

always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Post says one-third of its staff across all departments, not just the newsroom, is being laid off.
Starmer — a prosecutor with a huge majority, coming in after years of sleaze and mendacity — could have weaponised the corruption of his opponents to incredible advantage. Instead he will be ruined by the living avatar of corruption in his own party. To not see that coming is a serious skill issue.

Only 10 cases of Guinea worm disease were recorded *globally* last year.
It may become the second human disease we eradicate, after smallpox.
This is true and the extreme nature of how bad US elite impunity has gotten. But it's also because it's such a US-centered scandal. It implicates such a concentration of the most mega-powerful political and economic elites, their combined pull far exceeds Andrew plus a few specific politicians/CEOs.
This is preying on my mind a bit. Jeffrey Epstein was not primarily a British scandal! So far we've removed a Prince from the Royal family, fired our US ambassador who was one of the most important political figures of the last few decades and banned the CEO of Barclays from the financial industry..
