- RSPB Titchwell this morning, visibility poor, on sea we had 10 LT Ducks, 3 Gt N Divers seen together plus usual selection. Scaup still on Tidal, Avocet, Pintail etc on Freshmarsh. Firecrest at beginning of West path. 1st Scarlet Elf Cups seen also lots of Snowdrops #norfolkbirding

- Vc28 Jan figs for Hunstanton, only 3 traps, 1 blank. 11 moths in total. Total moth sp 6, inc nfg Early Moth. 2 Spring Usher, 4 Pale Br Beauty, 2 Chestnut, 1 Early Moth. 1 each Common Plume and Agon.Heracliana. Hoping February is much better! #norfolkmoths #teammoth
- Titchwell today, sea very quiet but had 10 Eider flying east. Scaup on Tidal. Brents on freshmarsh. Pr(?) Treecreepers on start of West bk, Goldcrest close to Meadow Trail path, Tawny roosting still, nfy Canada Geese! #norfolkbirding Bought Manleys 3rd edition at sale price £22! #norfolkmoths

- Morning spent at RSPB Titchwell, very quiet on the sea. A small flock of Snow Buntings flew over beach towards Brancaster. The f Scaup was on Tidal, Red Kites, M Harriers & Buzzard were seen over Thornham Marsh. Our 1st Avocet of 2026 on Freshmarsh. #norfolkbirding No moths on VC!
- Had a stroll along Hunstanton prom this morning, 1 f Common Scoter with a f Scaup on sea, a couple of RBrM and usual waders along the shore. Fulmars off Cliffs, lovely to watch them flying around.
- 6/4 last night in Hunstanton, nfy Chestnut* & C Plume*. Also 2 x Pale Brindled Beauty* & Spring Usher. Titchwell - new for us, a Mottled Grey* amongst moths on VC. #norfolkmoths #teammoth Birds incl Firecrest, Song Thrush, GW Egret, Redwing, W/Rail, Ruff, T/Owl & f Scaup on F/Marsh. #norfolkbirding
- Our 2nd trap here in VC28, 1st moths of year, 5/4! Nfg Early Moth ( on paving), plus 2 Pale Brindled Beauties (1 on bench, 1 on shed), 1 Spring Usher & Agon. heracliana in trap. Good selection of waders etc off Cliffs Cpk at Hunstanton yesterday am. #norfolkbirding #norfolkmoths
- Couple of hours at Titchwell, 58sp. Highlights: Beach: Purple Sand, flyover m.Snow Bunt. Sea: LTDuck, 2 Goldeneye, 5 Eider. Tidal: f Scaup, Pintail, pr Red Br Merg. En route: Kestrel Work has started on the sluice area, machinery is on the bank at back of freshmarsh.
- No moths yet, but we have our 1st Bee Orchid leaves, didn't see any in the garden last year, far too dry.

- Norfolk Ornithologists Association, (NOA) Holme next Sea, sponsored Bird Race 2nd January, 103sp were found in very difficult conditions by the brave NOA team! Final bird was a Woodcock coming out of its day roost at Titchwell. Full report coming next week on the NOA website. noa.org.uk

- It's Hunstanton 2025 Stats time: never thought we'd be trapping 17,705 moths in a year! With 245 traps out, only 8 blanks. Macros: 265 in '25, 219 in '24- new to gdn 46 Micros: 185 in '25, 130 in '24- new to gdn 55 (Figs do not include Aggs or Grade 4 micros.) Looking forward to 2026!

- 3/3 last night in Hunstanton, Winter moth, LBAM & Chestnut*. Titchwell - very few visitors around, chilly & windy. Greenshank (H), Grey Plovers, Firecrest on Fen trail with Goldcrests & Treecreeper. Still many moths, mostly Mottled Umbers, on VC. #teammoth #norfolkmoths #norfolkbirding
