- My tree is pretty sturdy with sources, but even with 3 new DNA testers (great-aunt and two 1c1r), I am no closer to solving my 2x great grandfather mystery. Solidly confirmed 2x great grandmother through a sibling and her cousins descendants. Waiting for 4 more tester results now. #GeneticGenealogy
- Looking again at the marriage of a 2x great grand aunt and noticed that one of the witnesses had a familiar surname, McFaggen. Although not related to my aunt, her sister's husband was a descendent of the McFaggen's and seems very likely that the two men were cousins of some degree. #Genealogy 🤯
- I should say, Thomas McFaggen and his wife were from Kirkcudbrightshire and moved to Edinburgh. They only had two children, a son and daughter. My family descend through the daughter, but the marriage witness must have descended through the son to continue the surname. His name was also Thomas.
