I refused. I wanted to talk to my attorney. They didn't tell me the judge had already ordered my release and return to Minnesota.’

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroI'm not sure what to make of it, but every Somali I represent in immigration court currently (8 of them) have today had their hearings cancelled and their judges reassigned. They're now all assigned to a video judge from Louisiana and scheduled for court hearing in one month. 🧵

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroShe wasn't a general assignment AUSA roped into this. If you believe someone who was deporting people before choosing to join the fight to keep people detained during the middle of the ICE occupation was actually trying to fix the problem from the inside, I think you're a little naïve and credulous.
- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroA bizarre number of people have stepped up to defend Julie Le. What you see in that transcript is an attorney who chose to do evil work—deporting people for ICE then moving over to DOJ in early Jan. specifically to fight these habeas petitions—being called to the carpet. She's desperate, not heroic.

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroDays after covering a protest last week, I realized I had been shot with a new so-called "less-lethal" munition that the LAPD is using more commonly at protests: the FN303. This week, Chief McDonnell said that officers used the FN303 because a judge banned the LAPD from using 40mm launchers.

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat Totoro2 weeks ago, the El Paso Medical Examiner ruled the death of a Cuban ICE detainee a homicide. This time, when a 32-year-old Nicaraguan man died, ICE bypassed the county medical examiner in favor of a military facility. They won’t publicly release a ruling. www.texastribune.org/2026/02/03/t...

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroI say this as a victim and as a lawyer and as a journalist and as a woman in public, no one, literally no one in power, cares about victims of sexual violence. This is why they promise women more police and prisons (allegedly to help them) while fancy men who are friends with Epstein go free.

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroIt’s hard to focus on one thing to be appalled about, but these stories out of Minnesota are awful. (And, of course, on the other hand, very encouraging.) I cannot believe you can wrongly grab somebody, transport them, and then leave them where YOU took them.
- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat Totoro3d Cir. holds that habeas corpus petitions challenging immigration detention are "civil actions," so prevailing noncitizens may be entitled to attorneys' fees and costs under the Equal Access to Justice Act. Gonna be a loooooooooot of these. www2.ca3.uscourts.gov/opinarch/242...

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroI'm used to having to convince coastal types that there are people out there who genuinely believe in libertarian and traditionalist principles (rather than as laundry for regular bigotry). rarely, however, do you see those types publicly confronted with how little company they actually have

- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroAlaska officials gave false info to American Samoans, telling them they can vote. (They can’t, due to having a unique status among anyone born in a US state or territory.) Now the state is threatening them with years in prison, part of GOP’s voting fraud panic. Months of reporting in this story:
- Reposted by Arizona Wildcat TotoroLast night, at least one federal agent shot me multiple times w/ pepper balls in my leg after they dispersed hundreds of protesters away from the MDC driveway on Alameda Street in DTLA. I was covering the protest for @lataco.bsky.social. This is the 2nd time I've been shot by the feds since June.
