J: F Tennyson Jesse; A Pin to See the Peepshow Excellent neglected feminist novel from the 1930s--'Therese Raquin'-meets-the-Thompson/Bywaters case. Perceptive, subtle and surprising in the small details, if not the grim arc of the plot.

I see @stuckinabook.bsky.social has resurrected it for the British Library Women Writers series, as he is a very wise person and should always be respected.

That is precisely the edition that I have. Wonderful series. I have discovered so many interesting, gifted writers because of it.
