- Caria chrysame psittacus butterfly (say that 3 times fast!) 🧶 This is the 2nd butterfly I've made in as many weeks. I'll probably move on to something else for a while, but it never lasts too long. I love making moths and butterflies! 🦋 #embroidery #handembroidery #wildlifeart #butterfly #sciart

View full thread😀😇 The short answer is: Photoshop and an old copy of iMovie. 🙂 I got to know your Brothers Grimm 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘨 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦(?) thread-painting pretty well working with it, and I just wanted to say that I love how you deliberately chose a slightly muted color palette for the frog's reflection in the mirror.
- Presumably, this was to convey that it's an old mirror from an old time, which would not produce a quality of reflection as faithful as our modern mirrors (due to inferior materials & manufacturing processes). Clearly, you spent some time ruminating on your subject and composition. Great stuff!

- Not me misreading "psittacus" as pistachio 🤣 Another magnificent butterfly embroidery! I can visualise it fluttering in place with how realistic it looks.
- I think this may be my next embroidery project! I've wanted to try it for a while but keep getting pulled into cross stitch

- As ever, a bright and ever so needed break to the scroll of doom that threatenes to ruin my day. Lovely.
- You've got a real talent for it. Keep going, love to see the work.
- This embroidery is absolutely stunning!

- I’ve never seen fabric with that pattern, it looks excellent with that design!
- Holy dimensions, butterfly! It looks like it could start gently fluttering at any moment. (Also, someone else already pointed out how good that typo was... I'm afraid that I'm running with it, and my mind will always know this as a 'Sapho longing butterfly.')

- I really love seeing your insect embroidery pieces; you put so much care into them that they look alive.

- Autocorrect failed me. It's a longwing butterfly
- I sort of Iike the auto correct name.
- Enchanting. You never disappoint.
- Here he is with his party hat 🐿️🎈 (I made this as a birthday gift for my sister, hence the theme 😊) #embroidery #handembroidery #blueskyart #wildlifeart
- Your sister is so lucky.
- It's the personality in the faces you embroider that astound me.

View full threadThank you! This style of stitching is called threadpainting, so there's that. I think because the individual thread colors can't be mixed/blended like you can with paint, it evokes the more impressionistic painters who used visible strokes with individual colors. Just a thought 🤔
- 'Threadpainting' is a very apt descriptor. 🙂 "𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘹𝘦𝘥/𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵… ." Yeah, that makes sense. It's almost like a kind of pointillism, but with thread. I dig it. (Your use of color is excellent, btw [the choices you make]).

- So soothing.
- This is sooo adorableee. I'd argue that a lil flower hat is way better than a crown.
