- A small nymph of a desert longhorn grasshopper, I think Tanaocerus koebelei, from last Sunday in the Mojave Desert. Camouflage rating: 12/10 - you basically only see them if they move. These flightless grasshoppers have long antennae (hence the common name) and are amazing up close. #BugSky 🐙🌿📷

- Found pics of a wee (5 mm.) strange bug from last July in Arizona that I'd forgotten about. I think it's a planthopper nymph (Mebracidae?). The fringed lobes around the abdomen look almost exactly like those on an owlfly larvae (which this definitely isn't). Bugs is weird, bugs is cool. 🐙🌿 #BugSky
