they make a promise to at the very least be amicable towards one another. it's overall sorta sweet because these are two people trapped in places they never wanted to be trapped in but they make the best of it... it gets awfully complicated tho when carri falls for heathcliff (2/?)
he doesn't say a word about it to heathcliff tho. but anyone can see how much carri really loves him. it's painful because he does know that he can't have heathcliff heart (cathy is alive and well) and so he just resigns to being his closest friend and confidant... (3/?)
