whetstone
I live in Colorado, have mad fits of creativity followed by periods of somnolence, and am charmed by snakes. She/her, or whatever.

- Mt. Rushmore is already a desecration. Maybe if he does this more of us will be willing to return that place to the people who hold it sacred, and they can cleanse it however they see fit.
- Very weirdly formatted link, and there is a moment of well-meaning (iykwim) transphobia, but the writing is extremely good and the portrait of the eccentric artist so well done. Made me want to listen to more Tom Waits. tomwaitslibrary.info/biography/in...
- I think often of the women in the Louis CK story—how they all left comedy and never went back, but he’s still going. It’s everywhere and it’s such a loss for them and for us—for things they’ll never make that we’ll never see.
- This is why I am unbothered by the concern about the creative work we would lose by "cancelling" predators. There are so many talented people. If you're really *so* transcendently good at something, people will still listen to your shithead self. And if you're not, why we gotta keep you around?
- Yup. This is also why I get annoyed when people start suggesting "golden age" science fiction titles to people who are new the genre and are asking for suggestions. You want to turn a modern 15-year-old off science fiction forever, recommend stories that were old when her grandparents were her age.

- oooo, would read!
- so much clothing is marketed as "conversation starters" but as an introvert, i want "conversation enders." no more talking. let me go home.

- one of my friends gave me a coin-purse sized purse that is a whole taxidermied frog. apparently this is a thing in the philipinnes. if i ever *require* attention i know what to do!
- One of the things that makes older women get angrier and angrier is the ongoing revelation, as we reach the ages men were when they acted inappropriately with us, of *exactly how young* children the ages we were appear from that adult perspective. There is no plausible deniability. None.
- 🚨HOLY CRAP. The Trump admin just took a SLEDGEHAMMER to due process, largely eliminating the Board of Immigration Appeals process and MANDATING DISMISSAL of ALL appeals (which cost $1,000 thanks to OBBBA) filed after tomorrow unless a majority of the BIA votes to hear the case.

- this woman looks exactly like my 4th grade teacher. yes, she was a republican. yes, she was abusive. i have a lifelong aversion to people with pale blue eyes because of her.
- This morning at the Minnesota State Capitol. An ice sculpture that reads "PROSECUTE ICE". I'm told the organization behind the sculpture is Common Defense.

- ice melting seems like it will work well with this message!
- this is gorgeous
- fish sauce and chili peppers are her go-to for inflexible ingredients? really?
- [Not loaded yet]
- exactly! anchovies are fiddly and sometimes i don’t want to try to wrestle just one filet out of a new jar, and then it‘s fish sauce to the rescue
