- Today is my last day as RoCur and this will be my last thread (Saturday is a family day). This has been a blast! Thanks @rladies.org 😊 Let's stay connected! @ellakaye.co.uk ellakaye.co.uk A summary of the main things I've talked about this week🧵
- It would be a pity to not to use the opportunity of being the RoCur to shamelessly promote some #RStats packages 📦 that I have developed 😆 They're all useful for me. Perhaps they'll be useful for you too. I'd love to hear about packages you've developed - please share in the replies. A thread 🧵
- This is a thread about Forwards, the R Foundation task-force on women and other under-represented groups. We work on accessibility, community, conferences, on-ramps, social media, surveys, and teaching. forwards.github.io
- I know that "What's your favourite R package?" threads are a fairly common RoCur occurrence. I want to know your favourite **functions** (both base R and in packages). Mine are the `browse_*` family from {usethis}, to visit important project-related web pages. usethis.r-lib.org/reference/br...
- What luck that this announcement relating to R contribution landed the week that I'm RoCur! I am unbelievably excited to be part of this team, working with many wonderful people on the sustainability of the language and community we love ❤️
- 🎉 Big news for the future of #RStats. The project "Enabling the next generation of R contributors" has received £500k over 2 years. - mentoring expert contributors - modernising infrastructure - improving governance - strengthen communication and outreach www.software.ac.uk/rsmf-round-1...
- Hello! I'm back to talk about R community. This is a thread about @rainbowr.org, a community for LGBTQ+ folks who code in R 🌈 I know previous RoCurs have talked about rainbowR, but as the co-founder and co-lead of the community, I can't not write this thread! rainbowr.org
- I'll be back again tomorrow talking about the R community, in particular Forwards and rainbowR. See you then!
- One final contributing to base R post from me today, sharing a blog post from Rhian on her experience of participating in an R Dev Day. rhian.rbind.io/posts/2025-1... @statsrhian.bsky.social #RStats
- I can't talk about contributing to base R without mentioning my favourite R-thing I've ever done, adding the `penguins` dataset to R >4.5.0 🐧 After a journey from Antartica to PLOS ONE to the {palmerpenguins} package, what a joy to help the penguins march into R, immediately available to everyone!
- Do you have questions about contributing to base R? Ask them in the replies here and I'll do my best to answer.
- Have you contributed to base R? If so, share your work in the replies (I tagged a few folks in the previous thread, but there are many others I missed, or don't know about).
- When tracking down bugs in base R code, you may well find yourself coming across some C. Don't know any C? No worries! I've got you covered with "C for R Users". The recording from R-Ladies Philly covers a live demo using the R Dev Container. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mQC... #RStats
