- 🌍 New today in Nature: Climate models need faster, more frequent data updates - here's how to do it 🌍 Today, a group of scientists, led by Vaishali Naik published a Comment in Nature calling for a major shift in how we support climate modelling. 🔗 www.nature.com/articles/d41...
- Reposted by CMIP ─ Coupled Model Intercomparison Project🌊 The Atlantic “conveyor belt” (AMOC) is weakening under climate change. A new @nature.com study suggests collapse is unlikely this century, but the risks remain very serious. Hear from lead author @jonbakerocean.bsky.social in our next webinar. 📅 2 Sep 2025, 2–3PM CEST 🔗 bit.ly/climtip-webi...

- Reposted by CMIP ─ Coupled Model Intercomparison Project1/ How we can advance climate science to drive a sustainable future? 🚨 Excited to share our new perspective article in Front. clim., born out of the inspiring discussions among early and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) at the @wcrpclimate.bsky.social OSC 2023 www.frontiersin.org/journals/cli...
- Reposted by CMIP ─ Coupled Model Intercomparison ProjectHas the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) weakened over the last decades? In our new study, we combine state-of-the-art CMIP6 models and observation-based estimates of the air-sea heat flux in the North Atlantic to show that the AMOC has not declined since the 1960s! 🌊
- 📣 CMIP7 Description Paper now available for comment on GMD 📣 Including climate science questions #CMIP7 will help to address, including model characterisation, process understanding, impacts and adaptations analysis, climate assessments; and more! Comment now 👉 zurl.co/cmip7-paper
- Reposted by CMIP ─ Coupled Model Intercomparison ProjectWe tried to make #CMIP7 an inclusive, taking into account modeling centers and community needs. The design, I hope, reflects that -targeted on a tight timeline with flexibility to support a wide range of ESM science. So pls read, comment and start thinking about cool ways you can use this ensemble.
