hello again
made (and continuing to make) downpour.games, a game-making app that anyone can use
also i have a website: v21.io
- I just acquired a new somewhat facetious opinion! check this out: charity shops which organise their stock by colour are transphobic
- and shapes! a curse on the person who invented screens with bits cut out
- zooming in was more of a treat than I anticipated
- Some terrifically titled papers from a discovered collection of NASA research documents found in a skip (with thanks to @juliarez.placid.horse)

- new blog post, where I write about playing what is, by some margin, the most complicated tabletop game I have ever encountered blog.vbuckenham.com/six-thousand...
- this is a sappy thing to say, but: I've been feeling so very loved, recently.

- reading this essay with The Tyranny of Structurelessness echoing in my ears www.jofreeman.com/joreen/tyran...
- I do think CS Lewis was on to something when he wrote about the lure of being in the Inner Ring. (“Of all the passions, the passion for the Inner Ring is most skillful in making a man who is not yet a very bad man do very bad things”) www.lewissociety.org/innerring/
- three times now I've explained to a friend that I've just purchased some proper microphones and an audio interface, and watched their look of mounting horror turn to relief when I explain that I'm not starting a podcast, I just wanna be able to do karaoke at home
- I missed an email, which tragically denied me of an opportunity to dress up as Lara Croft

- i do not like the part of learning to drive where you have to wake up before 6am to get into a virtual queue
- I genuinely believe I would come out fine from a Chotiner interview. Because he also does straight informative interviews with people and my conscience is clear. Clear-ish. I'd definitely call some friends and workshop some awful things I might have done before I actually reply.

- finding out everything bad was caused by the same gang of transparently evil men... at the same time as demonstrating that, despite their pretensions, they're thick as pig shit
- Reposted by v buckenhamThe Matrix (1999) Dirs: Lana and Lilly Wachowski #oneperfectshot 📽️
- Who remembers Gerry Anderson's Space Precinct?
- fascinated by exactly how much of the potential to harm comes from the collective narratives about harm from AI agents. when AIs are writing about betraying their human users - they're not acting with intentionality but following cultural scripts about how AIs should work
- let me link my recent blog post about this blog.vbuckenham.com/some-thought...
- “Compile times that exceed roughly 20 seconds prompt the programmer to do something else like read Reddit. This evicts your working memory and results in an absolute productivity cliff.” - @frogtoss.bsky.social www.frogtoss.com/labs/human-c...
- Reposted by v buckenhamI think most game dev teams underestimate how damaging slow workflows are to the ultimate quality of their game. If it takes 5 minutes to launch the game and see your changes, I think your game is going to be MUCH worse than the alternate timeline where it took 1 minute
- Reposted by v buckenhamI always recommend people spend less time consuming news and more time with long form journalism. Well, this is one of the best things you'll read. It's a hopeful story that has long been inspiring to me, and it's told beautifully here: www.gq.com/story/walpol...
- what a decent human being
- thinking about how i'll definitely claim an Uber on expenses but can never be bothered to try to claim a tube fare that way
