Wishlist "Trees Hate You" on Steam if you like getting bullied by plants: store.steampowered.com/app/4171850/Trees_H…
- I'm working on an effect where roots/vines will grow and trip you or something. I'm probably not going to cover an entire level like this, but I had to try it out. #gamedev
- Stump axe WIP #gamedev #indiegame
- *Very* early WIP of a Sisyphus-themed level idea, still just trying things to see if feels like the right kind of miserable #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #gamedev #ragegame
- Been playing with active ragdolls and apples... #indiegame #gamedev
- Eyes now follow suspicious trees instead of always staring lifelessly forward. It's a little thing, but it seemed like it might be a fun detail. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiegame
- Currently adding more "hats" to the game #gamedev #indiegame
- The Steam page for Trees Hate You has only been up for about 2 days, and already over 3 thousand people have added to their wishlist! Thank you to everyone who wishlisted or shared my silly little game. It's makes me excited for the future as I keep working on this. #gamedev #indiegame #steamgame
- "Trees Hate You" Steam page now live! Wishlist if you want to be bullied of horrible trees: store.steampowered.com/app/4171850/... #indiegame #steamgame #ragegame #gamedev
- The quest to find an axe continues. #gamedev #indiegame
- I started working on a winter level for Trees Hate You. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev
- I think I'll keep teasing players with an axe just out of reach. #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #gamedev #ragegame
- With the way I previously made the demo end, this is my idea so far on how to extend Trees Hate You for additional levels. #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #gamedev #ragegame
- I revisited my "Trees Hate You" project. I'm just continuing to come up with new ways to get bullied by foliage. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiegame #ragegame
- I was going to make this farming game's "shipping bin" a mysterious rift into the void or something, but then I figured a giant mouth would make more sense. #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #gamedev
- I'm experimenting with NPCs and dialogue that transform mid-conversation #indiegame #gamedev
- I made a dumb little game about trees being mean to you that can play for free here: tykenn.itch.io/trees-hate-you It was meant to just be a gag for a different project, but I was having too much fun placing traps and turned it into a whole obstacle course thing. #gamedev #indiegame
- Finally got a demo for South Words Hero posted on Itch. Still a WIP, but the plan is to get some feedback and fix things up before publishing the demo on Steam. So if you want to try a silly game about using power from the letter in your name, please check it out! tykenn.itch.io/south-words-...
- Breaking players' trust in trees (extended edition) #gamedev #indiegame
- *Almost* ready to open the demo to the public (at least on Itch for now, Steam will come later). I even made a web version. This week was a lot of dialogue revisions and bug fixes, but I did sneak in a few new features as well. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiegame
- Help, I'm trapped in aEVERYTHING IS FINE QUIT WORRYING ABOUT IT #gamedev #indiegame
- Just crossing the 4th wall to drop a strange box into the not-so-infinite void, as one does. (The story will make sense eventually, maybe, I hope) #gamedev #indiegame
- Focus this week was on adding little differences between playthroughs. Goal is to make starting over with a new name feel like stepping into an alternate universe where things aren't *quite* how you remember them. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiegame
- I revised the tutorial section over the weekend, making sure every possible timeline has a simple "first puzzle" to solve, no matter which letters may or may not be in your name. #gamedev #indiegame
- I *could* learn the software designed specifically for doing the thing I'm trying to do.....Or I could just figure it out in Unity. If you squint, every problem looks like a game, in a way. #gamedev
- So the idea is to de-cozify the farming game genre by making seasons less predictable and always moving (In the actual game, they'll be much slower, and the crops will die) #indiegame #wip #gamedev
- "Escort Mission" idea where you not-so-gently transport a sleepy guy. #gamedev #indiegame
- The seed of new side side project... #gamedev #indiegame
- Lots of miscellaneous updates this week: - Snow scene - Party follow fixes - Buffs/fixes to J, U and many other letters - Option to disrespect pottery - Main story sequences fully functional for ch 1 - Combat improvements - Letter and quest help added to menus #ScreenshotSaturday #gamedev
- I'm in that dev phase where I feel like I make a ton of progress, get excited to show it off, and then realize it still *looks* mostly the same. "The game no longer locks from this long list of weird edge cases" isn't something you can capture in a screenshot. Anyway, here's Fontia Town again:
- Today I made some improvements to party following: - They move faster when farther and slower when closer to try to stay near the ideal follow range. - They use a nav mesh but are still affected by physics and can be shoved out of the way as needed. #gamedev #indiegame #madewithunity
