- Between 1879–1918, the Carlisle Indian Industrial School was part of a U.S. policy to forcibly assimilate Native children, erasing their identity through abuse and separation. Of 10,000+ students, only 158 graduated. 500+ children died in such schools. #IndigenousHistory
