Toxic-Free Future
We’re fighting for a toxic-free future for you, your family, and your community. #ToxicFreeFuture #MindTheStore #SaferChemicals

- The Toxic Act is a chemical industry wish list that would weaken health protections and let more chemicals on the market without proper review. We need stronger chemical safety laws, not giveaways to polluters. Congress must stop the chemical industry from rolling back our health protections! #TSCA
- WA is the 1st state in the nation to ban bisphenols in receipt paper—chemicals linked to serious health harms. The impact goes far beyond Washington: major retailers are making receipts safer across the country. Proof that strong state and retail action can drive national change. 💪 #MindTheStore
- 📈 The TOXIC Act would lead to more toxic chemicals, more cancer & more industry profit. It would roll back core public health protections, putting chemical industry profits over people’s health. We need stronger protections from toxic chemicals—not weaker ones. Congress must reject the TOXIC Act!
- Join Toxic-Free Future & Judith Enck of @beyondplastics.bsky.social at Town Hall Seattle on 2/22! - ❗Happening today: The House Energy & Commerce Committee is considering the TOXIC Act—a chemical industry-backed bill that would weaken EPA authority, short-cut safety reviews and roll back protections from cancer-causing chemicals. 📢 Take action: toxicfreefuture.org/take-action/...
- Congress is considering a chemical industry wish list that would weaken EPA authority, fast-track new chemicals and let toxic substances like PFAS enter the market without full safety reviews. Congress must reject this assault on our health protections! #TSCA
- 🐟 WA lawmakers are weighing an important new bill that would put the health of salmon & people 1st by banning 6PPD in tires—a chemical that breaks down & kills Coho salmon & creates health hazards for kids. Lawmakers must protect salmon, clean water & human health by banning 6PPD in tires! #waleg
- 🚨 A new chemical industry-backed House bill would roll back key federal protections from toxic chemicals and weaken safeguards that protect our families. This bill is a chemical industry wish list disguised as “reform,” and it threatens our health, our environment, and our communities.
- 🏡 The green living movement is growing—but we can’t shop our way out of toxic chemicals & plastics. PFAS, phthalates & flame retardants hide in furniture, cleaners & building materials, ending up in air & dust. We need systemic policy change to protect health & get toxic chemicals out of homes!
- Reposted by Toxic-Free FutureWashington @ecology.wa.gov has banned bisphenols in thermal receipt paper – the receipts we're handed in stores. The state has been on top of efforts to limit toxic chemicals in food, consumer products, etc. Thx @toxicfreefuture.bsky.social for the tip. ecology.wa.gov/waste-toxics...
- 🏆 WA just became the 1st state to ban all bisphenols in receipt paper & other thermal paper—protecting workers & shoppers from a hidden source of chemical exposure. This is what health-protective policy looks like: proving we don’t have to accept toxic chemicals as the cost of doing business.
- The EPA had a chance to strengthen protections against toxic #phthalates — chemicals linked to infertility and birth defects. Instead, they sided with the chemical lobby once again. American families deserve better. #TSCA
- 🛡️ Congress must resist pressure from the chemical lobby to weaken our main federal chemical safety law (#TSCA) — a move that would roll back protections and put communities at risk.

- 250+ public health & enviro groups sent Congress a clear message: protect public health & reject the chemical lobby’s push to weaken #TSCA, our nation’s chemical safety law. Read the letter and TAKE ACTION! #PolluterProtectionAct #PFAS #phthalates
- A groundbreaking @washingtonpost.com piece shows how plastic chemicals like PFAS & phthalates contaminate our homes, food & bodies, with real consequences for public health. From TFF: “We’re not exposed to these chemicals individually. We’re constantly being exposed to mixtures all the time.”
- 🚩 There’s no safe level of formaldehyde. EPA’s move to a weaker assessment under #TSCA will undoubtedly lead to more cancer-causing formaldehyde in everyday products and indoor air. While states like Washington have banned it in cosmetics, we need strong federal protections for everyone’s health.
- 🔎 Don’t miss this powerful @washingtonpost.com story on the health hazards of #phthalates — and how the chemical industry has put profits over people. It’s a clear reminder why we must protect #TSCA, especially at a time when EPA is evaluating these toxic chemicals.
- ⏰ Your #GivingTuesday donation is DOUBLED today up to $25,000! Corporations put toxic chemicals & plastics in products we use every day, putting profits before people. Help us hold them accountable and build a toxic-free future where health always comes first! toxicfreefuture.org/donate/

- “With this rule, WA continues to stand firmly on the side of public health. As health impacts and cleanup costs from PFAS contamination skyrocket, prevention is the most rational solution. We urge @ecology.wa.gov to take even stronger action in the coming years to phase out #PFAS in all products.”

- Our new research shows many of The Home Depot’s top suppliers are still using PVC in their packaging. Seriously?! #PVC doesn’t make our homes better; it threatens our health, safety, and the environment. 🌎 The Home Depot can and must do more to phase it out of all packaging on store shelves.
- 💥 The chemical lobby is trying to weaken #TSCA — the law that protects us from dangerous chemicals, bans deadly solvents like TCE and methylene chloride & lets states act on toxics like #PFAS. Tell your senators to keep TSCA strong and oppose industry rollbacks. toxicfreefuture.org/take-action/...
- 💚 We mourn the loss of Dr. Steven Gilbert—an environmental health hero, beloved board member & friend. He spent his life tackling toxic chemicals and pushing for safer, healthier communities in WA. His legacy lives on. Thank you, Steve. 🙏💜

- Siloxanes, parabens & other harmful chemicals shouldn’t be in our beauty products—but new ChemFORWARD research shows they still are, and major data gaps on ingredients still remain. The good news? Washington state and retailers like Sephora & Ulta Beauty are leading the way toward safer beauty. 💄🌎
- ✨ Good news alert! Walmart once again made progress cutting toxic chemicals from its products—showing big retailers CAN work w/ suppliers to eliminate harmful chemicals. Walmart must continue to set ambitious goals to reduce its chemical footprint & commit to maintaining transparency w/ customers.
- 🏭 TFF's Mike Schade lives 7 miles downwind of an incinerator that burns plastics and trash. #PVC packaging is toxic from production to disposal, polluting nearby communities and releasing dioxins—some of the most dangerous chemicals on the planet— when burned at incinerators like this one.

- Booooo! 😡 @governor.ca.gov just sided w/ the chemical industry over Californians’ health. By vetoing SB682, he kept toxic #PFAS in cookware. Six other states & retailers like Target have already transitioned away from PFAS toward safer solutions like cast iron. He should have ensured CA did too.

- 🍳Californians deserve protection—not PFAS pollution! @governor.ca.gov has the chance to ban #PFAS in cookware that can contaminate our food, water, and bodies by signing SB 682 into law. Governor Newsom must ignore pressure from industry and do what’s right for public health and the environment.
- 🦴 Plastic pet toys may expose our furry friends to toxic chemicals like phthalates and PVC, polluting our homes and putting their health at risk. In our latest Retailer Report Card, PetSmart scored a D- for failing to tackle toxic chemicals and plastics. That’s unacceptable.
- Another day, another troubling study on #microplastics. 🔬 They can disrupt bone marrow & raise osteoporosis risk—and have been found in our brains, blood, breast milk, and even sperm. It’s time for retailers like Home Depot and policymakers to ban PVC and other toxic plastics fueling this crisis.
- Big thanks to Indian American Community Services (IACS) for hosting such a fun, inspiring health fair! 🙌 We loved connecting with the community, sharing tips for reducing toxic chemicals in homes, and giving out EPA Safer-Choice-certified cleaning products. Here’s to healthier homes for all!

- 🍔 TFF science director Ryan Babadi tells @kiro7seattle.bsky.social: toxic plastics & chemicals like phthalates, PFAS & PVC contaminate the food we eat. “They don’t belong in our food & they don’t belong in our bodies.” 🚀 Retailers & policymakers must act to keep harmful chemicals out of our food.
- We love a success story like this one! 💜 Proud to have supported the Whidbey Island No-Spray Movement—now 25 years strong. 🌼 When communities demand change and ban or sharply reduce the use of dangerous chemicals, exposures drop, ecosystems recover, & we all breathe easier. Read more ⬇️
- 🚨 Many chemicals in U.S. cosmetics are banned abroad for links to cancer, hormone disruption & reproductive harm. WA state is leading—it already banned many of these chemicals & recently become the 1st state to ban all formaldehyde-releasers in cosmetics. It’s time for safer products nationwide!
- 👏 Congrats to California for passing a bill to phase out toxic “forever chemicals” (PFAS) from cookware and more! Now it’s urgent that @governor.ca.gov resist industry pressure and sign this into law to protect our health and the environment. 🌎💪
