Because someone had the temerity to speak to me of privacy, here's a thread detailing some basic recommendations in brief
VPN:
1. Do it yourself via Tailscale. Plain Wireguard provides even more control if you're hard enough.
2. Mullvad still seems okay for now. That's it.
3. No ProtonVPN ever
Why not Proton?
They've provided data to authorities several times and the owner is a Trump cheerleader.
If your goal is privacy and personal safety they aren't to be trusted.
No VPN company is safe from the whims and laws of their government, and the data they do (have to) keep is extremely limited. Tailscale doesn't make sense as alternative because it's not a traditional VPN, it's DIY for all I understood of it. The latter part tho, oof
