Rep. Jill Tokuda

Representative for Hawaiʻi's 2nd Congressional District. Leading with #Aloha. Official. 🌺
- Glad to express my strong support of UNAC/UHCP healthcare workers and stand shoulder to shoulder with those who provide lifesaving care to the members of our community. After months of negotiations, it's time to respect the hands that care for us and give them the dignity and aloha they deserve.
- On a hilltop in Santa Fe, a single stone marker tells the story of my jiji who was incarcerated as a so-called “enemy alien,” while his son served this country in uniform. Today, that truth is being erased. This is whitewashing history.
- Surprised this year’s Congressional App Challenge winners and celebrated their incredible work. Students from Le Jardin Academy, Mid-Pacific Institute and King Kekaulike High School designed very impressive apps with real-world impact & thoughtful design.
- I stood outside of ICE headquarters with my CAPAC, DWC, and CPC colleagues in solidarity with the victims of ICE’s violence, due process violations, and lack of accountability. This is a failure of leadership. We are demanding the immediate removal of Kristi Noem.
- On my 3rd visit to the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu, I spoke with correctional staff and personnel before spending several hours with nearly two dozen detainees to hear directly about their experiences and needs, including access to attorneys and interpreters or simply having someone listen.
- I am holding a town hall in Līhuʻe on Saturday to discuss policies affecting Hawaiʻi, address concerns about the Trump administration, and answer questions from community members. RSVP at bit.ly/lihuetownhall. I look forward to seeing you there!
- So grateful to everyone who joined us in Waimea on Saturday for my first town hall of the year. We discussed important topics like the affordability crisis, protecting free and fair elections, the military's footprint in Hawaiʻi, and how Democrats plan to address these issues.
- Had a great conversation with KAOI Maui. We covered a range of issues that matter to our communities—supporting our agricultural economy, ongoing recovery efforts in Lahaina & recent developments around federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota. Listen at youtube.com/repjilltokuda.
- Glad to join the North Shore Chamber of Commerce for a discussion on the federal policies and priorities shaping the North Shore in 2026.
- Spent time with the incredible students at Mālama Honua Public Charter School, learning from them as they shared their hands-on projects—from preparing ʻulu for school lunches to turning turmeric into juice and soap.
- The killings of Renee Good & Alex Pretti are devastating tragedies and absolutely indefensible. We cannot let this spiral into more bloodshed. We need fair, thorough, unbiased investigations with local & state law enforcement fully involved. The truth must come out & people must be held accountable.
- Deeply honored to attend this ceremony recognizing seven Nisei soldiers whose courage & sacrifice went unacknowledged for far too long.
- Grateful for the chance to visit Kuakini Medical Center and learn more about how they’re modernizing while continuing to care for Hawaiʻi’s families, now and for generations to come. Kuakini has long been a trusted part of our community and a place so many families rely on for care.
- I am holding a town hall on Hawaiʻi Island (Waimea) on Saturday to discuss policies affecting Hawaiʻi, address concerns about the Trump administration, and answer questions from community members. RSVP at bit.ly/waimeatownhall. I look forward to seeing you there!
- In Hawaiʻi, a small loaf of bread now costs $8. Families are struggling just to put food on the table. 🧵
- Always enjoy going to the Hawaii United Okinawa Association Installation & Uchinanchu of the Year celebration! Filled with family, friends, comfort food & music—it reminds us that in difficult times, we can always lean on each other and our culture.

- Honored to share this special moment with fire-impacted families becoming first time homebuyers via the County’s Hoʻokumu Hou First-Time Homebuyer Program. Glad to celebrate this next step in rebuilding lives, hope, & stability on Maui. Happy home shopping and mahalo to all moving recovery forward.
- Aloha Lahaina 🤍 Glad to visit and see recovery taking shape—From Front Street seawall repairs to restored gathering spaces and new homes for healthcare workers & families. Always moved by this community’s strength, resilience, and hope.
- Hawaiʻi is in a housing state of emergency. 1 in 3 families are thinking about leaving the place they call home. With median home prices starting at $1M, our kamaʻāina are being priced out of Hawaiʻi itself. 🧵
- This week, Hawaiʻi received termination notices for mental health grants totaling $26M, funding mental health & substance use programs for 200,000+ people—including for suicide prevention, child and adolescent mental health, alcohol & drug abuse, and family health services across the state.
- This week, my colleagues & I joined @RepRobinKelly in introducing articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem. The reprehensible shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent & the targeted violence and discrimination we are witnessing in Hawaiʻi & across the country demands accountability and justice.
- Today, I voted to protect Hawaiʻi families from skyrocketing health costs. Without these premium tax credits, families face impossible choices & hospitals risk closure. Now, Congress is closer to protecting protecting affordable coverage & stabilizing rural health systems.
- Today marks five years since January 6, the insurrection at the Capitol. No amount of propaganda can erase the truth: our democracy endured because of the bravery of Capitol Police and law enforcement who sacrificed so much to protect it. We honor them, today and always. Mahalo.
