- So, the Irish Far-Right are absolutely losing their mind over Robert Troy announcing that Westmeath Council will be in discussions to provide a designated spot for Muslims to bury their dead in Ballyglass cementary - a council-owned graveyard, the type which regularly facilitates all faith or none.

- I think this is the first time the Soc Dems have reached 10% in the polls?
- Reposted by Thomas CreamerThe Irish government aiding this is fucking unconscionable. Unforgiveable. History will remember this as Nazi collaboration, because that's what it is
- Next, this Journey ICE flight that landed in Tel Aviv on Jan. 21 held eight Palestinians, who were transferred to the West Bank and released, according to @haaretzcom.bsky.social. This aircraft refueled in Ireland, @wereontheditch.bsky.social. #spéirghorm

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerReport #1 on the impacts of non-consensual deepfake image abuse. Sonia suffered years of panic attacks and needed counselling after photos, some dating from when she was a teenager, were edited & uploaded on an explicit site with her personal info. She's come forward because of the Grok scandal.
- A woman whose images were deepfake edited and uploaded to porn sites without her consent has appealed to the Government to use every power to stop predators. She told Virgin Media News the abuse led to years of panic attacks and unwanted contact. #VMNews | @newschambers.bsky.social
- Reposted by Thomas CreamerTomorrow: The first of two reports from women speaking out for the first time about having their images manipulated explicitly without their consent. They've suffered years of trauma, panic attacks and unsolicited messages from men. This is why the Grok issue matters. @virginmedianews.bsky.social

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerHundreds of thousands of vile sexualised non-consensual images of women and children have been created by Grok, X’s AI tool. This isn't just horrifying – it's illegal. The Govt response to this has been muted and confusing. When will X be prosecuted?
- Reposted by Thomas CreamerThis thread responds to Prof. Christian Dunn’s Telegraph piece on #climate communication. I argue it misdiagnoses public disengagement, underplays escalating scientific risk, & reproduces a media narrative that has actively shaped, not merely reflected, public resistance to climate action 🧵
- www.thejournal.ie/patrick-odon... ...how is it strange? It's pointing out how strange it is that you were all gung ho for age verification not to long ago - any concerns be damned - to squirming away from any straightforward condemnation or action against a CSAM factory operating in this country.

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerI can't believe I'm posting this video - but we actually have to have a conversation about the real world implications of America going to war over Greenland. Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerNew Gist: The Abuse Factory It shouldn't be difficult to act swiftly and without hesitation when the question posed is "Is it OK to work with the child sexual abuse material factory?" But our state failed this most straightforward of tests this week. www.thegist.ie/the-gist-the...

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerThe idea that journalists, politicians, groups or - you know, women, people of colour, LGBTQ+ people - should "stay on the pitch" doesn't really hold up. Foreign Minister's account has 60k followers - 40 likes, 13k views? Blue ticks straight to the top of the queue with misogyny, bile.

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerEvery media figure and politician could do exactly this right now. @garygannon signs off from X, the deepfake child sexual abuse material generation app.

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerMy word. The Taoiseach, in China, says "platforms can be misused and abused or they can be used for positive reasons as well..." and says that should be considered carefully "before jumping to conclusions" on whether it's appropriate for the Government to be on X.

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerThe way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.

- ...we already have a "rules-based" immigration system. Ask anyone who came here without a UK or EU passport. This is basically a meaningless phrase. What rules do you actually *want* to change? Do you actually want less doctors or builders, or do you just want the bureaucracy to be more annoying?

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerYes. We're spending £476m on the militarisation of Calais - where babies are being tear gassed. The fact people are hearing this for the first time is exactly why I made it the subject of the Christmas Day message. We could be spending that money instead on a fair and managed migration system.

- Reposted by Thomas CreamerWhat historians (and other scholars do) is create knowledge. We should use that phrase more and talk about what it means. I think we don't, and it's part of why AI enthusiasts are confused when we don't readily agree that our work can be replicated/replaced by their products.

- Came across the first Popeyes in my life just there - granted, this *is* at an airport, but I did not have the impression that Popeyes was some sort of premium restaurant chain, because this is making Dublin look downright reasonable.
