They Might Be Geeks (aka: Mr. Warp Bubble)
Sci-Fi Geek, designer of things, weird-car enthusiast. All things Star Trek (esp. DS9) 🖖 Naive political idealist. Advocate for a United Earth. 🌎 “What’s so funny ‘bout peace, love and understanding?” ☮️
- Here’s the IMDB synopsis for the 2003 film “Dreamcatcher”: “Friends on a camping trip discover that the town they're vacationing in is being plagued in an unusual fashion by parasitic aliens from outer space.” As opposed to all the boring, usual ways a town can be plagued by parasitic aliens.

- Noooooooooo!!!! RIP Catherine O’Hara. 😥 Thank you for bringing us the iconic Moira Rose. 🌹

- AI art is just the modern day equivalent of the fable of the guy who makes the deal with the crossroads demon to gain magical blues-guitar playing skills, but (uh-oh!), at the cost of his soul.
- Agents Plant and Page.

- I guarantee you none of these dickweasels wore masks during Covid. Because that was “government oppression.” But as long as they can abuse immigrants and indiscriminately murder civilians while cosplaying Call of Duty, they’ll happily wear a mask all day, every day.
- Finally got around to a bit of research I'd been meaning to explore, and: There is no documented instance of an ICE officer being identified and assaulted while off duty because he wasn't masked. www.pbump.net/o/ices-excus...

- Two tickets to Melania, please.
- “The state-sanctioned murders will continue until morale improves.”
- Deep down in his heart-of-hearts (if he actually had a heart, that is), all Trump really wants to be is an 80s-era insult comic with a tight five.
- Clearly he misspelled the sign. It should say “BORED of Peace”.
- It’s only been a year.
- You know who I feel excessively bad for? Famous British comedian and chat-show host Jonathan Ross. Through no fault of his own, his name is going to be forever-associated with an innocent woman’s murder. Hang in there, Wossy.
- The first episode of #StarfleetAcademy was great, and I have a crush on Holly Hunter’s lisp.
- I know I’m a jaded, cynical adult because whenever I watch ‘Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood’ with my two-year-old, my brain can’t stop thinking: “Yeah, but how does the economy of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe even work? Who is buying all these clocks the clock factory makes? Are they socialist?”
- I’ve never done anything so bad that I’ve had to invade one sovereign nation and threaten to annex another in order to get people to stop talking about it. But that’s just me.
- I often think that right-wing figures choose to embrace absurd political stances (in this case: “cars should pollute more!”) not because they truly believe in them, but because they feel they have no choice but to oppose the reasonable policies that the left champions (“Cars should pollute less.”)
- Greenland has, like, two-dozen people in it. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Unless you think they are going to weaponize polar bears and walruses.
- “Careful of the icy patch!”
- I try my best to never give in to the lure of toxic nostalgia, but man, that decade-ish of time between the end of the Cold War and 9/11 really was peak.
- Happy birthday to you, @anilkchander.bsky.social !!! 🎉🎂🥳🎈

- Wishing a very happy birthday to my lovely wife, @staticwarpbubble.bsky.social , pictured here snuggling in a poncho with the snuggliest of snuggle puppies. 😘
- The same type of “Satanic Panic” people who wanted to censor rock lyrics and ban albums because they had a skull on the cover, or whatever, are now fully cool with an unknown, sinister intelligence reaching out through the depths of the digital aether that speaks directly to their kids.
- If it’s not Berman-era Star Trek, then it’s definitely Top Gear.

- In all fairness, it really was quite inconsiderate of Venezuela to put their country on top of all that oil that belonged to the United States.

- WTF?!?!?!?! 😳 Imagine, just for a second, that a foreign government conducted a nighttime military strike on Washington DC, captured Donald Trump, and flew him out of the States? What exactly do you think the American response would be? www.cbc.ca/news/world/t...

- So many to pick from, but if I had to pick one I’d probably say “Losing My Religion” for its surreal cinematic imagery, four interweaving narratives, and Michael Stipe’s bizarre dancing. youtu.be/xwtdhWltSIg?...

- Maybe all the right-wing tech bros will be like “AI is woke now”, and we will finally be rid of it? 🤞
