I have taken a couple of artistic liberty raptor orders in the past, but they all had a fantasy element to them, this is my first time taking a crack at making an "actual critter" of a dinosaur, how did I do?
Jan 20, 2026 18:00behind the scenes look at the planning process some art lib orders get, not many of them get this much back-and-forth feedback, I really only do this much planning when the client is unsure about too much being unknown, some just spawn with very little planning, and some are ordered as a surprise
I didn't put any WIP in the video, so have some here :)
This was supposed to use a head base from another, maker but I couldn't make the jaw move and fit glasses so I did a custom EVA foam head.
Also unplanned was the more customized body padding.
The "half a thing sitting on my table" phase lol
Jaw set on a spring so it bobbles more open/shut as you move. The wings are a shrug that overlaps a mesh top and unzip from each other so you can avoid washing the feathers. Poseable eyelids. Neck vision fan cooled head that fits glasses and you can also see out the mouth. Tail is nearly 5ft long.

I want it SO BAD
Needless to say you did amazingly and I would buy something like this in a heartbeat if I ever got the chance
