- Another milestone in the evolving nature of naval warfare. Wartime conditions consistently drive innovation, compelling armed forces to adopt unfamiliar solutions. The reported downing of a Su-30 by an AIM-9 missile launched from a Magura V7 USV is significant, raising several critical questions.
- 🚨🚨🚨 Naval News can confirm that a Sidewinder-armed Magura V7 surface drone (USV) shot down two Russian Su-30 FLANKER jets. This is the first time that the V7 variant has been revealed to the public 🇺🇦💥🇷🇺 @covertshores.bsky.social has the story (and the picture) 👇 www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2...

- Hi Grace. We are still witnessing the “baby steps” period of the uncrewed technologies. The next decade will show us so many new developments in uncrewed in autonomous systems in every domain.
- ***EXCLUSIVE*** Naval News has first image of Ukraine’s Sidewinder-armed Magura V7 surface drone (USV) which shot down two Russian Su-30 FLANKER jets www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2...
- Excellent catch. BZ.
- Successfully launching a heat-seeking missile like the Sidewinder from a relatively unstable platform is a significant engineering challenge.
- This incident not only highlights a tactical surprise but also signals a broader shift in naval warfare, where even small unmanned platforms can pose a credible threat to advanced fighter jet.
- One of the fundamental principles of modern warfare is to maintain standoff distance to the effective range of enemy weapon systems. In this case, either the intelligence failed to detect that the USV was equipped with an air-defense capability, or the aircraft's missile warning and +
- +countermeasure systems failed to respond effectively. Both scenarios point to serious operational oversights. Another dimension worth examining is the technical feasibility. USVs are inherently small and more susceptible to sea state, leading to higher roll and pitch compared to larger platforms.
- Dearsan Shipyard showcased the scale model of Hisar-class OPV at the ASDA 2025 exhibition in Zagreb. 8-cell VLS, Atmaca AShM canisters, DSH rockets, and AESA radar are visible on the mockup. @DearsanShipyard, Desan, and @ozatashipyard partnership will build 4 Hisar-class OPVs for Turkish Navy.
- I rarely share photos of ships outside the context of news or analysis, but while working on the Visby-class corvette, I couldn't help but admire the remarkable engineering behind its design — and I felt compelled to share it.
- Although construction began in 1996 the Visby-class clearly reflects an "out-of-the-box" design philosophy. Its approach to stealth, combining low RCS, minimal IR signature and visibility, alongside its exceptional surface and ASW capabilities, set a global benchmark for littoral combatants.
- The Visby-class remains a standout example of visionary naval engineering, demonstrating how innovative thinking can shape the future of maritime operations.

- Possible, penguins have a unique uniform already! What else needed?
- The silhouette of the mast completely changed, of course the capabilities are boosted as well. MEKO-200TN MLU is a good example of modernization these widely operated frigates.
- ASELSAN has successfully completed the BARBAROS-Class (MEKO-200TN) Frigates Mid-Life Upgrade (BARBAROS-MLU) Project, achieving a major milestone by modernizing 21systems on TCG ORUÇREİS with advanced, indigenous solutions 🇹🇷 www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2...
- Excellent photo of the mast lineup of the first Reis-class (Type-214TN) submarine, TCG Pirireis. The photo was taken during a naval parade conducted by the Turkish Submarine Fleet to commemorate martyrs lost their lives at TCG Dumlupınar, which sunk in Çanakkale Strait on 4 April 1953.

- Very nice drawing 👏🏻
- I had the privilege of speaking at the Littoral Combat Seminar organized by IFRI in Paris. I shared my experiences, observations, and insights on littoral warfare and multi-domain ops, with particular emphasis on the Baltic and South China Seas, as well as the naval dimensions of the 🇷🇺-🇺🇦 war.
