I think a big thrust of a lot of my feminist work has been "Not to upturn standpoint epistemology or anything, but could y'all recognize that even marginalized perspectives will have a plurality of opinions?"
"And then, get better at recognizing the conservative bullshit instead of parroting it?"
"Socialism robbed Soviet women of their femininity"
"Dowry is actually a very feminist practice"
"Only Western women care about female circumcision"
"Our women are actually very happy with modesty laws"
Like. Is it really that hard?
Maybe just try to do a quick check on whether the people you're trying not to speak over are themselves speaking over anyone. Maybe don't be satisfied with opinions that flatter your biases. Maybe when considering that other cultures are complex, consider what their progressives feel like.
