- Sometimes being a supervisor, project leader, mentor, or professor can feel quite lonely. I miss my PhD and postdoc days — it was the sense of community, the great interactions, and the feeling of belonging to a family that kept me sane in academia @academic-chatter.bsky.social #academicChatter
- Reposted by Suayb ÜstünSurreal to hear folks don't think agricultural biosecurity isnt a national security risk and a massive strategic weakness for ALL countries on earth. We are very very VERY not secure when it comes to food production. We are one big blight away from ruin. Everyone needs to eat.

- Reposted by Suayb ÜstünHonoured & excited that ‘Breathing Underground’ has been funded by the ERC! This will let me explore one of the most fundamental questions of plant life: how roots breathe underground? @erc.europa.eu
- Reposted by Suayb ÜstünSuper excited and honoured to have been awarded an ERC Starting Grant for CooPAIRation! How do plant immune receptors work together to trigger an immune response? Can we modulate immune responses for disease resistance? We will tackle these questions in CooPAIRation Positions to be announced soon!

- Almost missed this one! Congrats @plantophagy.bsky.social and all people involved! This is certainly such a good resource for everybody!
- 7 years ago,I sat outside @zmbp-tuebingen.bsky.social,gathering the courage to begin a new chapter as a group leader. Now in Bochum, I still need that courage to face challenges—both inside & outside the lab—but after all I’m grateful that I still find joy in what I do. #happybirthday #theustunlab

- Indeed like @plantophagy.bsky.social said we are digging into this and think we found the selective autophagy receptor/module in Arabidopsis. But as usual it will take some time to fully prove it (genetics 🙃)

- Great talk by @teamthomma.bsky.social who shows that effectors have antimicrobial activities that are ancesteral - other functions within the host have evolved later on to suppress immunity in plants #2025ISMPMI
- in the light of evolution it makes so much sense that effectors from pathogens have „ancesteral“ functions and „evolved“ further functions once plants „appeared“ - it‘s a great new concept by @teamthomma.bsky.social and thought-provoking 🤓 #2025ISMPMI
