Plant evolutionary genomics
- New work now out led by Mark Hibbins and Cassandre Pyne : new statistical methods for quantifying rearrangements suggest highly elevated rates of chromosomal change associated with the evolution of separate sexes in Rumex!
- Very excited to share the capstone of my postdoc work with @stepheniwright.bsky.social, co-led by Wright lab grad student Cassandre with contributions from many others. We combined new methods with high-quality Rumex assemblies to dive into the remarkable history of rearrangement in this genus.
- Please share broadly: I am looking for a postdoctoral fellow to work on a collaborative project on the temporal population genomics of invasive Capeweed (using contemporary and herbarium genomics), with @shaky-dingo.bsky.social and colleagues
- Presenting Dr. @bmsacchi.bsky.social !! Bianca successfully defended her thesis on Rumex sex chromosome degeneration and regulatory evolution today. Bravo!!
- Now out, new work led by @rejectresubmit.bsky.social - multiple origins of dioecy and sex chromosomes and genome-wide rearrangements shape the phylogenomics of Rumex
- What forces drive genome evolution in groups with young sex chromosomes? doi.org/10.1093/evle... Now in @evolletters.bsky.social by @rejectresubmit.bsky.social, @joannarifkin.bsky.social, @bmsacchi.bsky.social, @stepheniwright.bsky.social et al 📷: Joanna Rifkin
- Doubly great news: SMBE is now here, and Maud Tenaillon is our new EIC for GBE!!!
- Very exciting news!
- I have big news! We are delighted to announce that our proposal to host the annual Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution conference in Québec city in 2027 has been chosen! The Local Organising Committee is Christian Landry, Jullien Flynn, Jean-Baptiste Leducq, Edel Lopez, Sophie Breton and me!
- SMBE2024 Puerto Vallarta has now opened the call for symposium proposals! Proposals are due Nov 10th.Results will be announced Dec 6th! #SMBE24 www.smbe2024.org
