Female American kestrel on a coast cholla cactus. 🪶
How do they (birds) do that, I mean really! I get it on a saguaro, but something like a super spiny cholla?? 🤷♂️
I’ve seen roadrunners, mourning doves, sparrows of several species, cactus wrens, mockingbirds, and kestrels using these tall, dense cactus thickets for shelter and lookout posts.
Certainly a wise choice for shelter.
Ok, I have not seen a bunny up on a cholla!!
Natch. So all bunnies have to be careful of are fallen cholla links. I’ve been had by a few over the years 😉
The teddy bear jumping cholla in the desert really love to hitchhike. It’s almost impossible to avoid them when hiking out there.
