- I'm not surprised he's French and I'm not surprised he's a dude. This is the symptom of everything that is wrong in French academia where your worthiness is measured in: 1. how critical and (violently) negative you are about your colleagues' work, 2. how many pages you can write.

- Speakers of French: the professional categorie of "cadre" I find tricky to translate. I'd say that this could be translated as the professional managerial class, but this feels anachronistic. What do you do?
