this Halloween, I was on a South London train. A group of 5 young men, from accents working class Londoner. Some with drinks.
Dressed in a variety of superhero costumes.
They approached another man (similar accent) a stranger to them, dressed as Super Mario.
Nothing but friendliness. No aggro.+
Mario was with a young woman, dressed as Princess Peach. No inappropriate comments to her. Just friendliness.
To them, this seemed very normal.
To me, it felt so different to my early 20s, when a group of young men out of a Friday night might so quickly slide into a fight with a stranger.
