Personal account, historian of education policy
- I have some lovely student writing to read today, so my week has now leveled up.
- Does all of our parasocial relationship with Mamdani count? 😏
- Ordered my Girl Scout cookies this year online from a troop in Minneapolis, and reportedly they're on their way. A few friends and I realized over the weekend that what we REALLY wanted in addition to Girl Scout Cookies were Girl Scout dog biscuits. I have to find cookie booths and suggest that.
- Back at my old university, seeing one of my senior colleagues walk out of the bathroom without washing his hands was traumatizing: how many times had I shaken his hand over the years?
- This reads so oddly, as if Alderman is upset that there *hasn't* been a bloodletting. Also: 1) How much can we trust the new NCES figures? 2) How about disaggregating by state?
- The skills AOC has to turn any question into what appears in retrospect to be a softball. (It would not have been a softball for several of the Congressional D caucus leaders.)
- If I see "Isaac Chotiner" as the Caller ID, I am giving away all of my possessions and moving into a hut.
- Friends, I committed Critical Reading Field Research this morning, and purchased a packet of Clorox Toilet Bombs, to see if Christopher Mims' blathering about AI and consumer-product "innovation" in the Ethan Mollick Chapter was as mid as I expected. Toilet Bomb in toilet now, results pending.
- Chapter 8 dived into tendentious bullshit, and no surprise, Ethan Mollick followed quickly thereupon.
