I've fallen into a klezmer rabbit hole. After last night and this morning's forays with David Krakauer (including his collaboration w/Kronos Quartet), I find myself listening to "Tanz! With Dave Tarras and the Musiker Brothers" And it all started b/c I'm reading "Thistlefoot" by Gennarose Nethercott
Feb 3, 2026 19:44And because I'm sure you're all on tenterhooks to learn about my next klezmer adventure, I'm now listening to "King of the Klezmer Clarinet" by Naftule Brandwin. I'm rather enjoying this little musical excursion, and I'm curious to see where it takes me next...
The inevitable end result of all of this is going to be me diving into the history of klezmer music starting in Eastern Europe, stories of the "klezmorim," and likely some Ashkenazi folklore for good measure.
