- Finished this one yesterday. The iridescent glass makes it look a bit different on each side (think I prefer the yellow > blue). The leading was awful and my soldering needs more work. But first piece of 2026!
- 2025 had several lows but one of the positives was me discovering stained glass 🥰 A thread of everything I’ve made since Aug 2025 that I remembered to take a picture of: 1. Picking colours 2. Cut glass 3. First foray into leading 4. Finished piece!
- Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

- I’ll be there representing the Masters in Public Health programme (with other @uofgshw.bsky.social colleagues) - drop by, say hi, and ask us all the questions! 💖
- Represented our Public Health @uofgshw.bsky.social team with Dr Claire Hastie today at the @uofgmvls.bsky.social EDI conference sharing some insights on our event in June ✨

- Good short read to understand university financing. It’s baffling to me how many folk who work in HE are completely unaware of things like this (see also: admissions, targets, marketing) 🙃
- Very few people seem to understand university finances and, distressingly, this includes many academics and most policymakers. This is an attempt to condense the key points you need to know. open.substack.com/pub/profseri...

- Reposted by Sharon GreenwoodA new paper in The Lancet, one of the world’s foremost peer reviewed medical journals, estimates that USAID prevented 91 million deaths across 133 countries over 20 years. The paper estimates that Elon Musk’s DOGE funding cuts to USAID will lead to 14 million deaths by 2030 (4.5 million children).

- Yesterday I helped look after this wee egg - meet 9-week old Ginty. She came over to Winston’s house for the afternoon and spent most of the time sleeping 🥹🥹
- This times a million! Going down a teaching-specialist lecturing track IS an intentional choice for many of us on that route. Some of us actually love teaching, love working with staff to also enjoy teaching, and ensuring universities adhere to their civic duty of being EDUCATIONAL spaces.
- It's never been a Plan B. I didn't choose it because it was the only job available or some insulting notion it was a simpler or easier route. I love being LTS and and I'm grateful I get to spend the next part of my career supporting the next generation of LTS academics. Slides at osf.io/ktsq6

- And just like that, it's published! www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
- It's disingenuous to conceal how our work and life affect us. Jo and I have a paper coming out soon following up on our @teachinginhe.bsky.social paper about emotion (follow up to 2023), and I just feel it more than ever that our stories belong in learning spaces. Education shouldn't be santised.
- Had three really emotionally intense days - teaching with @joedsonferrie.bsky.social on Monday on qual research and emotions (sharing bits from my PhD), helping out with the @scottishfamilies.bsky.social recovery college on Tuesday (sharing my lived experience), and a family funeral yesterday.

- Such a dark time to be working in any area of health in the US.
- This week started with delivering a lecture on genetics and inequality and ends tomorrow with a lecture on the political determinants of health…both just so pertinent right now and both encapsulated in this one thread:
- I have no other updates about life apart from: 1. Surviving (not thriving) 2. Audiobooks are now my pre-sleep ritual, bring on the dragon lit 🐉
- Two sets of paper revisions submitted in the last 24 hours - please publishing gods, let them be favourable 🙏
