Shanshan Wang
Postdoc @Weigelworld at Max Planck Institute for Biology Tübingen, studying plant immunity with various approaches
- Scientific discoveries are rewarding, but the journey of entering a new field and learning new techniques has been the real highlight for me. So grateful for the mentorship of @plantevolution.bsky.social and the amazing lab!
- Out after peer review, led by @shanshanwang3.bsky.social. Gating of immune responses in Arabidopsis mesophyll cells: after initial response, immune gene expression stays hi in some cells, while during PTI other cells reinitiate a growth-related program. nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

- Reposted by Shanshan Wangrecord 17,058 Marie Curie proposals in 2025 vs. 10,360 in 2024!!! the reason is pretty obvious, but wow that is a huge jump marie-sklodowska-curie-actions.ec.europa.eu/news/msca-po...
- Reposted by Shanshan WangVery happy to share our latest work “Systematic discovery and engineering of synthetic immune receptors in plants” out in @science.org ! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

- Reposted by Shanshan WangFirst a pentamer, then a hexamer… now an octamer! The riddle of the enigmatic CCG10-NLR immune receptor family cracked open 🔥 Congrats Guanghao @GuanghaoGuo He Zhang @mhz1989 Selva @M__Selvaraj et al. #NLRbiology #plantsci #immunology
- Reposted by Shanshan WangHow can we better understand the plant immune system? In my new @cp-cellhostmicrobe.bsky.social piece, I propose “immune cell states” as a framework for uniting molecular and cellular perspectives. www.cell.com/cell-host-mi...
- This helps disentangle the complex relationship between plant development and immunity.
- Reposted by Shanshan Wang2/3 By focusing on very early time points, Shanshan found mesophyll cell populations that not only prioritize a defense-over-growth strategy vs. a growth-over-defense strategy, but also that these cell populations behave more similarly during ETI than PTI.
- Super excited to share our new preprint! 🎉 This project has been an incredible learning experience, thanks to the amazing lab and wonderful people I get to work with. Huge thanks to my supervisor! @plantevolution.bsky.social
- 1/3 New preprint led by Shanshan Wang, in collaboration with the Timmermans lab. Several groups have presented sc/snRNA-seq analyses of Arabidopsis leaves after bacterial infection before. Is there anything left to discover? Turns out: Yes. #plantscience www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
