I will be looking to sponsor a Postdoc to work with Linda Geerligs & me on LONGITUDINAL changes in neural states during movie watching & memory. ✉️ me your CV
- Reposted by Selma LugtmeijerTime seems to speed up as we get older - is that partly due to events/neural states lasting longer? #PsychSciSky #Neuroskyence www.livescience.com/health/neuro...
- Reposted by Selma LugtmeijerVery happy to see this published! Registered report led by the fantastic Sophie Sowden-Carvalho (and with @thepsychologist.bsky.social & @brainapps.bsky.social) looking at effort-based prosocial decision-making in autistic and non-autistic adults. tinyurl.com/3upvukt2 See thread below for more info⭐️
- Back @brocku.ca for a view days to work on a project related to our recent publication on how neural states change with age during naturalistic viewing: www.nature.com/articles/s42... In our new study we look at eye movements during movie-watching and whether it relates to memory for the movie.
- The brain represents the world around us as a series of neural states - stable patterns of activity that change as we move from one event to the next. New paper by @selmalugtmeijer.bsky.social showing that neural states get longer as people age. #PsychSciSky nature.com/articles/s42003-025-08792-4

- Current fatigue shapes future motivation. Talking at the poster session about how momentarily fluctuations in fatigue influence willingness to exert effort for reward in the future. Enjoying a great conference - Cognitive Computational Neuroscience - Amsterdam
- Our new study shows that accelerated long-term forgetting occurs more often in stroke patients than in age-matched controls. After one week, 35% showed marked forgetting despite normal recall after 30 min. Important for neuropsychological diagnostics. Open access: doi.org/10.1111/jnp....
- Feeling honoured to have been awarded first prize (jointly) in the Excellence in Enhancing Research Culture Award for an Early-Career Researcher at the School of Psychology Awards 2025, University of Birmingham.
- Grateful to colleagues and the School for recognising the importance of new initiatives and a supportive work environment.
- Day 2 of the first @chbh.bsky.social hackathon 🧠🤓 Thanks for a fun talk on your MATLAB journey @dagmarfraser.bsky.social
- Delighted to read this commentary by @martinhebart.bsky.social on our recent paper on visual feature processing.
- I wrote a commentary on a very nice paper that just appeared in @brain1878.bsky.social by @selmalugtmeijer.bsky.social, Sobolewska, de Haan & @neurosteven.bsky.social. Spoiler: It's about modularity in mid-level vision. 🤓 Original paper: doi.org/10.1093/brai... Commentary: doi.org/10.1093/brai...
