my objection to black bloc and, in fact, the entire associated set of tactics is that they don't seem to work, which i guess makes me a lib by bluesky left/liberal divisions

Feb 4, 2026 00:30the asymmetry is wild, honestly. `lib` is inclusive and tacitly accepts that many of its nominal members hate its leaders and disagree with many of its tactics. `leftist` requires you to refrain from criticizing a wide range of things, or you aren't one
All of it makes sense if you consider lib or leftist, depending on which one the person calls themselves, to mean “what I am“ and the other label to mean “what people who aren’t me are.” It’s why I don’t describe myself as either most of the time. It confuses more than it clarifies.
