- Yesterday, the EPA opened public hearings on its plan to repeal the Endangerment Finding — the agency’s own 2009 determination that greenhouse gases endanger human health and welfare.
- That finding, rooted in a 2007 Supreme Court ruling, has been the legal backbone for regulating climate pollution from cars, power plants, and oil & gas for more than a decade.
- On Day 1 of hearings, nearly 200 people testified — from physicians and public health leaders to clergy, farmers, and attorneys general.

- Reposted by Science for Good ☀️I’ve noticed there has been a general decline in national competitive fellowships open to various fields of study. In my grad school experience (which ended after 5 years this May) the Ford Fellowship ended and now the GRFP has greatly shifted towards a more specific research area. 🧪

- Compared to previous years, the 2025 NSF GRFP awards show a sharp shift in which fields are being funded—breaking from a decade of relatively stable trends. Here’s a breakdown of the last 10 years of NSF GRFP funding by major field of study:
- The initial 2025 NSF GRFP awards largely mirrored historical distributions across scientific fields. However, the 500 additional fellowships announced in June marked a sharp departure—concentrated in emerging tech sectors like AI and CS, with entire disciplines such as life sciences receiving none.

- She’s been held in detention centers across 4 states—Vermont, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Rhode Island. One judge has already said her visa should not have been revoked. Another confirmed the samples were nonhazardous and posed no threat.

- Reposted by Science for Good ☀️In case you missed what happened to covid.gov in April — here’s a before-and-after snapshot of the site. Imagine the same thing happening to climate.gov. These sites exist so people can get clear, trusted facts.
- Almost all staff at climate.gov — one of the most trusted public climate science sites — have been fired. The site, which drew hundreds of thousands monthly and countered disinfo, now faces an uncertain future — and the risk of being repurposed to spread misinformation, as happened with covid.gov
- In an unprecedented move, all 12 members of the Fulbright Scholarship Board have resigned — accusing the Trump administration of illegally meddling with one of the U.S.’s most respected international education programs. www.cbsnews.com/news/fulbrig...
- Their reason? The administration overruled approved Fulbright recipients and launched unauthorized reviews of over 1,200 foreign scholars, effectively politicizing a program designed to be nonpartisan.
- “We could no longer risk legitimizing unlawful actions," the board said in a statement released Wednesday. substack.com/inbox/post/1...

- FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has long been the backbone of federal disaster relief—coordinating resources, funding, and emergency response when states are overwhelmed.
- Under the new plan, FEMA’s responsibilities will be decentralized, with disaster response powers transferred primarily to individual states through “mutual aid” agreements.
