- Reposted by Tess from South Africafunny how the man who cost the Washington Post hundreds of thousands in subscriptions by canceling the paper's presidential endorsement—almost certainly the most destructive decision in the history of the paper, if not journalism itself—still has his job
- Reposted by Tess from South AfricaI don't often wear political t-shirts, but I'm proudly sporting this one today. I'm an immigrant. I teach American (and international!) college students, research the U.S. economy, consult with policymakers, write books, raise my kids, pay taxes, and try to make this a better place.

- I can't actually believe all the govt officials behind him kept a straight face as he said that. In effect, the speaker is saying that they can arrest anyone they want to, without any due process, because getting an arrest warrant is too much effort and takes too long 😱
- Reposted by Tess from South AfricaGood time to reup this post from last month.
- Reposted by Tess from South AfricaI’m sure America will also be taking action any second now. Probably an incident where so many prosecutors tried to get into a door at once they all got stuck in and someone had to go find a stick to dislodge them.

- Reposted by Tess from South AfricaPlease don’t turn the Epstein files into a joke. This is real for survivors. Many former victims are realizing for the first time they were used by a system. How this is discussed online matters. Tread carefully.

- Reposted by Tess from South AfricaThis isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.

- Reposted by Tess from South AfricaWow! This read-along of the NYT moment-by-moment leading to the murder of Alex Pretti should shake everyone awake. He was a Good Samaritan. Agents fired at least ten shots in roughly five seconds. DHS and Pam Bondi claim Pretti approached them armed and intent on a “massacre.”

Illegal immigration is a misdemeanor. You’re the equivalent of having a death squad enforce parking rules.
