- I can't get the absolutely harrowing recording of Kipling's poem "Boots" in 28 Years Later out of my head as it goes from metronomic to hysterical 1 youtu.be/mcvLKldPM08?...
- TBH using Kipling in a film about a small, rage-fuelled island caught up myths of militarism is a bit of a tonic. Because every time if I hear "the nation's favourite poem" is bloody "IF" I die a little inside. 2
- although THIS might actually be an even better appropriation of Boots than 28 Years Later www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVoi...
- Nah First half of 28 Weeks: tense and clever take on military-industrial context. Second half: "what happens if a helicopter fights a zombie"
- Ahem After the rewatches I can confirm that for me……… 28 Weeks Later is superior to 28 Days Later. #filmSky

- My wife thinks she drives because I am a danger to myself and others who can't check his left-hand mirror without swerving...little does she know she's just my beard
- Reposted by Sam SolnickDifficult to express the contempt I feel for this. No, not all Jews think "Yes, there is a genocide happening right now and children are being burnt alive, but on the other hand some of those protesting really are antisemites, which is bad, so who knows what to do?" archive.ph/E1vxH
- The trouble with having so many MPs from two certain universities is that they seem to think every other university a) is worthless b) is not the cornerstone of many local economies
- as ever our excellent PhD students doing typically excellent things

- THIS So much of the hand-wringing about GenAI in universities revolves around plagiarism and marking (ie not being able to fairly/accurately rank students). The real worry should be how it (often) disrupts what students are actually learning -- how to think and communicate complex thoughts
- I am starting to suspect that Oxford nurturing the Bullingdon Club, Dominic Cummings, Sunak and Liz Bloody Truss was all a cunning plan to eventually bankrupt other universities via Brexit/Visa crisis and thereby keep them in sherry for another 1000 years.
- Also to post this as a university with an £8 BILLION endowment on a day when the sector is watching great institutions like Cardiff (endowment 50 million), Durham (100 million) and UEA (15 million) shed jobs is...pretty much what you'd expect from them tbh
