Patriarchy, hatred of women, and the need to dominate them, persists across race and class status. Left movements refuse a robust analysis of persisting gender violence.
- Notice the investment in the arts.
- I feel reasonably confident about what we're supposed to do with that knowledge.
- I read thousands of pages of Epstein files this weekend trying to understand what he wanted out of his meeting with 4chan's Christopher Poole. Here's everything we know about Epstein's plans to dismantle the internet and, eventually, democracy. www.garbageday.email/p/here-s-how...

- Могу подтвердить.
- Hey, that's me!
- Growing up, the Bible provided all my most influential examples of loving relationships: Ruth & Naomi, David & Jonathan, Jesus & John... I'm not saying the good book made me gay. I am saying I'm kind of shocked that it doesn't confuse the hell out of more straight people during adolescence.
- Oh my God, I totally want Tears of St. Rita brownies now. I could have been putting relics in *so many* recipes.
- Tell me about it. 🚬
- For two hundred years, the official language of the Viceroyalty of New Spain was Nahuatl. I'm really bummed I missed that.
- Ai-je déjà mentionné que j'étais une étudiante de troisième cycle à Montréal quand j'étais plus jeune ?

- CA state form: "Use this checklist to change the sex listed on the child's birth certificate . . . to reflect gender identity . . . Note: This is not the same as correcting the sex field due to a hospital or local registrar error." Me: "Isn't it, though?"

- Also how preschool teachers use it.
- If only there were a snappy word for a press that continually lies to the people. I bet German has a word for this. Someone should ask the president if he knows a word for it.
- What a very interesting piece . . .
- This country is so far gone I thought about doing a grim satire montage of ICE agents murdering citizens to the theme song from "Team America: World Police", but then realized Miller and Noem would think it was a fan-produced recruitment video.
- I've spent my entire life watching every country I'm connected to set fire to imperfect but beneficial systems for no reason. No one* benefitted from disbanding (instead of reforming) the Soviet Union. No one benefits from Canadian separatist brinksmanship. No one benefitted from confirming RFK Jr.
- It's a very welcome article, but the media really has to stop presenting these things like they're a surprise. *Every* man owes his success to a woman. The surprise isn't that he did, just that we found her.

- I'm just going to start signing off everything I write with the single word, "Nullification," like the elder Cato ending speeches with "Carthago delenda est".

- I have yet to hear a solid case for how our space adventurism benefits ordinary Americans who pay for it. "Spin-off technologies" seems the best attempt, but the one ironclad law of 21st-c. society/economics/politics is "more technology makes everything worse". Why is this worth blood & treasure?
- I see this framed a lot as a cultural difference between workers and management, or a result of different kinds of training and exposure to the technology, but what if it's just telling us which kinds of jobs are more automatable?
- The disconnect between management and employee on AI usage is big. At the same time, CEOs are reporting they aren't seeing any revenue growth from AI. 🤷 www.wsj.com/lifestyle/wo...
- Many of the brightest, most personable, most promising students I had here in MN were young Somali women. My work BFF at my new library branch is a Somali woman. There isn't a problem in this state that couldn't be fixed by firing all the men and replacing them with Somali women.
- So far, I am only seeing TPM, Mediaite, and Daily Beast focusing on this. We live in a world where the president calling an ethnic group "very low IQ" and "bad for our country" while insisting they "ought to get the hell out of here" barely makes headlines. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-m...

- Et les gens continuent me demander, pourquoi je suis séparatiste...
- Fun fact: Before the Revolution, the land that would later become Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, & Eastern Minnesota was not an unorganized territory (as Congress would later have it), but had already been designated part of Canada (a separate Crown colony) in the Quebec Act of 1774.

- Doesn't mean Nell isn't still down here getting bit by rats with nowhere to send the doctor's bill.
- If you want to know how we got here, it's because intelligent, worldly people listened to a self-aggrandizing megalomaniac say "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody", & believed he was "not capable of ordering ICE agents to shoot people" because America is *special*.
- Also, a friendly reminder that millions of Americans don't have passports because: 1) they can't afford the time and processing charges to get one, OR 2) they don't like travelling and have simply never needed one, OR 3) the current government refuses to issue them one (yours truly).
