I think I heard somewhere that, recently, younger people have been singing, "Almost grew my hair"--with pretty much the same meaning. :)

Hair as a symbol of resistance is so transhistorical and iconic!

Just after the B.U.B. passed the Senate, I stomped into my bathroom and cut my hair as short as I could without cutting off my fingers (I didn't even remember that when I first read your post). I do it when I'm pissed off (or just get sick of being told I should have long hair). And I'm pissed off.
