I say this as someone who is also guilty of it: we have got to remember just how few people were ACTUALLY doing shit like that.
There were definitely more of us then, as compared to now, but very few were actually looking shit up.

I love researching things and going down rabbit holes. Maybe it’s me or maybe it’s bc my generation was required to research, write note cards, cite references, etc. Either way, imma look some shit up before I ask the innanets
