Thoughts my own.
- So here for this.
- I feel my very soul, bones, and mind radicalizing as power to leverage every ounce of my agency against the pathology of domination taking root in my country.
- Dig this whole 🧵.
- ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
- I wrote about Minnesota and ICE and how average Americans are reclaiming the power that the administration is abusing. www.pbump.net/o/this-is-wh...
- The climate debate taking place in Washington, D.C. is predicated on sidelining climate change, marginalizing the progressive left, & surrendering to corporate & industry solutions. This is the emergent majority view embraced by key Rs & Ds. And it will have terrible consequences to the world.
- This debate, centered on "permitting reform," is just a proxy for subordinating ecological & community protections to corporate & industry priorities and gearing government to serve those priorities with the conceit that benefits will trickle down to people via affordability.
- As Trump feeds on the carcass of the U.S. constitution, an alliance of tech, energy, & capital are circling around bedrock environmental laws like a pack of hyenas, seeking to assert energy & tech dominance over the country's future. That's my takeaway from this permitting summit.
- The entire conversation in D.C. centers on energy, tech, capital interests. There is no consideration of ecology, of nature. In this context, it's unsurprising the Trump administration knifed the first U.S. Nature Assessment that would've shed light on the country's ecological health.
- I find it remarkable that Governor Lujan Grisham, time and time again, goes out of her way to accommodate the oil & gas industry--even when it means condoning legislation that would overturn complex rulemaking completed by her own regulatory commissions.
- Centrist thinking is little more that toned-down acquiescence to Petrotech authoritarianism furthered by posturing against Trump and realigning with shitty people like Hanania.
- It’s all too weird and repugnant. These people need therapists, not platforms.
- Yet folks like Derek Thompson go on these platforms to sell their ideas of "Abundance" (of what?) and serve as contributors to even bigger platforms, like Bari Weiss' CBS.
- And other high-profile centrist pundits leverage their platforms to provide cover for weird & repugnant behavior with intellectualized weird & repugnant thinking. Genuinely, WTF is going on? The only logical answers lead to very dark places regarding the state of America's centrist elites.
- Yes, @mattyglesias.bsky.social has also argued, in The Atlantic (of course), that older men pursuing sexual relationships with sixteen year olds is not pedophilia.
- I remember this game like it was yesterday and still hold it over all my New England friends and families. Love it.
- Eighteen years ago today: @newyorkgiants.bsky.social #SBXLII
- I don’t know what to say about the weird realignment of the centrist folks with people like Hanania except that it’s fucked up.
- Super psyched to present on @westernlaw.org's ambitious, clear-eyed, and urgently needed Emergent Horizons strategy (Tues. Feb 3rd at 6pm PST) to revitalize the domain of environmental law. It's virtual, so please register!
