it is really important to recognize that the administration does a lot of things that are terrifying and dangerous and at the same time stupid and counterproductive arresting journalists is very bad and also this will end in humiliation for them

  the practical effect of arresting lemon et al is to spark widespread condemnation, especially since these arrests will certainly be thrown out. this doesn't mean the action isn't a dangerous escalation, it does mean the white house doesn't know what to do but spam its only attack

the entire goal here is to terrify people into submission, to push civil society to a point where nobody fights back or even protests what they’re doing does it look like that’s working to you? or does all of this just keep making people angrier?
