- Now this in Minnesota federal court today: The DOJ attorney "admitted it has been like pulling teeth" to get ICE to comply with court orders. "The system sucks, this job sucks." "We have no guidance or direction on what we need to do." www.fox9.com/news/federal...
- I discuss the rupturing of checks and balances with ICE defying court orders in Minnesota and across the country. Orders to release people from detention Orders to present detainee to court Orders not to transfer out of jurisdiction Plus how judges are pushing back, and role for SCOTUS.
- I was honored to do this Q&A with @newyorker.com's @ichotiner.bsky.social "Stephen Miller suggested, in May, that the Administration was 'looking at' suspending habeas corpus. Now, lo and behold, what Judge Schiltz is describing is a form of effectively suspending habeas corpus."
- Look closely at this graph of U.S. border crossings. The horizontal line is President Trump's inauguration. It explodes myths about effectiveness of Trump border patrol policies. Important expert analysis in advance of congressional hearings next week: www.justsecurity.org/130422/fact-...
- Following latest Epstein files, at least two legal paths to accountability are available: Congress and NY and other state/local prosecutors can now take up the charge. I explained the roadmap⬇️
- "It's such a farce. It makes me viscerally angry." Another heroic Epstein survivor rebukes Todd Blanche. On the deputy attorney general's claims about DOJ communications with the survivors.
- From the man dressed in Nazi-looking garb on DHS social media channels: "Bovino made derisive remarks about the faith of the U.S. attorney in Minnesota, Daniel N. Rosen. Mr. Rosen is an Orthodox Jew and observes Shabbat."
- Bondi: "At my direction" feds arrested journalists. At direction of AG may be because: "Career DOJ prosecutors in both Minnesota and Los Angeles refused to be involved...The prosecutors believe the evidence does not support the charges." (per @kylegriffin1.bsky.social re @carolleonnig.bsky.social)
- White House with image of a Black man and an emoji of chains. And the chosen image is of Don Lemon doing journalism.
- In recent DOJ attempt to lump journalists (Don Lemon and his producer) into charges against church protestors, the judge wrote: “Two of the five protestors were not protestors at all ... There is no evidence that those two engaged in any criminal behavior or conspired to do so.”
- Reuters has exclusive on updated ICE Guidance for Minneapolis. (1) "DO NOT COMMUNICATE OR ENGAGE WITH AGITATORS;" "It serves no purpose other than inflaming the situation. No one is going to convince the other. The only communication should be the officers issuing commands."
- Headline: ICE Ending Maine Surge A reason for Minnesotan officials and members of Congress to demand the same for Minneapolis. "Secretary Noem has informed me that ICE has ended its enhanced activities in the State of Maine." - Senator Susan Collins

- Senator Paul is a very effective communicator about this: "Nobody with any objectivity believes" Alex Pretti was assaulting the officers. Note: Noem's DHS (via Tricia McLaughlin) is still publicly asserting the opposite about Pretti (citing federal law on assaulting, using force against agents).
- This is unconscionable. Kristi Noem's DHS standing by 'domestic terrorism' label for Alex Pretti. I have to wonder if it's because they've officially entered him into the NSPM-7 system as such. This explains the connection: www.justsecurity.org/129797/alex-...
- A bellwether of things to come. Senator Fetterman calls for Kristi Noem to be fired. "A grossly incompetent DHS Secretary"
- Court filing: Trump administration appears to admit investigation into Alex Pretti murder is exceedingly narrow: A 'use of force' review - "a much narrower inquiry focused on tactics and conduct than one that would examine whether federal agents should face criminal charges."
- With Greg Bovino being shown the door A reminder of how he and Kristi Noem have been in lockstep in responding to Alex Pretti's murder⬇️ (and what lead up to it).

- I joined forces with @tomjoscelyn.bsky.social. We explain deep connections between senior administration officials' smearing Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and ICE protestors as "domestic terrorists" and how this fits into the draconian NSPM-7. Important for more people to wake up to this.
- I have been waiting for this signal from Senator Rand Paul. Senator Paul, Chairman of Senate Homeland Security Committee follows House committee. Sends letters to heads of ICE, CBP, USCIS to testify in public hearing.
- More indications that Kristi Noem's days as the Secretary of DHS may be numbered. Note how many times Todd Blanche says he won't say what Noem said -- because that would be prejudicial to any investigation. And it's Noem's DHS that's leading the "investigation"!
- "Separate analyses by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, CBS News and other organizations all concluded that the videos contradict the Trump administration’s description of the killing." www.nytimes.com/2026/01/25/o...

- Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Tx) in reference to GOP Chairman Garbarino’s letters for leaders of ICE, CBP, USCIS to testify following Alex Pretti's killing: “As an attorney and former federal prosecutor, I believe a thorough investigation is necessary ....”
- This is powerful from military veterans about Alex Pretti. "They took his life. Don't let them take his name."
- Bravo, Wall Street Journal Videos Contradict U.S. Account of Minneapolis Shooting by Federal Agents "See how immigration officers escalated a fatal confrontation Saturday" Gift link: www.wsj.com/us-news/vide...
- A preview of @weissmann.substack.com and my discussion of the federal government's outrageous response to the Alex Pretti shooting. Full video and sharable link: youtu.be/tlnmFvlgeck?...
- GOP Governor of Oklahoma "What we're seeing on TV, it's causing deep concerns over federal tactics and accountability…We believe in federalism and state rights, and nobody likes feds coming into their state...Is it to deport every single non- U.S. citizen? I don't think that's what Americans want.”
- Marjorie Taylor Greene⬇️ ⬇️ Plus Maria Bartiromo, Tim Pool, more...
- Federal judges will be watching this. Head of the FBI commenting publicly on the Alex Pretti shooting and with prejudicial statements that show flagrant bias.
- Even Maria Bartiromo is outwardly skeptical of these B.S. lines from the administration.⬇️ We all know what we saw.
- This man is part of the agency that is leading the federal "investigation."⬇️ This stuff is even beyond George Orwell's imagination: Bovino in short: I am not blaming the victims. The victims are the Border Patrol agents. Direct quote below.
- When reading the physician's sworn statement under penalty of perjury on shocking denial of medical care to Alex Pretti ⬇️ Remember Kristi Noem's statement earlier today: "Medics were on the scene immediately and attempted to deliver medical aid to the subject."
- WOW on Pretti's denial of medical treatment "I informed the ICE agents that I am a physician, and I asked to assess the victim. At first, the ICE agents wouldn't let me through. ... But none of the ICE agents who were near the victim were performing CPR, ... None of the agents were helping him."
- 2/ "Finally, one agent agreed to let me assess the victim. ... I was confused as to why the victim was on his side, because that is not standard practice when a victim has been shot. Checking for a pulse and administering CPR is standard practice."
- Second direct witness to Alex Pretti's killing comes forward. Court declaration: "I saw him yelling at the ICE agents, but I did not see him attack the agents or brandish a weapon of any kind. Suddenly, an ICE agent shoved him to the ground." 🧵
- Imagine this in a trial. Devastating first-hand witness to Alex Pretti's killing Declaration filed in federal court: "I don't know why they shot him. He was only helping. I was five feet from him and they just shot him."
- 2/ "The agents pulled the man on the ground. I didn't see him touch any of them-he wasn't even turned toward them. It didn't look like he was trying to resist, just trying to help the woman up. I didn't see him with a gun." Document: s3.documentcloud.org/documents/26...
