Starting to actively hate the Duolingo app. Let my Super subscription lapse when they announced they were going all in on AI, hadn't understood how *hostile* the free version is to use. A single exercise can drain more than half your energy, so you have to watch like 6 more ads for damned KingShot.
And all the ads, including the ones for Duolingo itself, are obviously AI generated as well, which compounds it.
It's wild how some of the ads are like "By joining Duolingo Super, you help bring our app to millions!" And... so what, I'm paying you to inflict this broken user experience on others?
Jan 31, 2026 21:43I'm sticking with it for the moment, hoping to hit a 2000-day streak in, I think, August, and finish the Japanese course by then, after which, I'll be glad to watch that bird burn.
