- The next milestone we're celebrating this #16Days as we mark Respect's 25 years of tackling domestic abuse is the launch of the Make a Change (MaC) programme in 2018.
- MaC is a community-wide, early response to people using harmful behaviour in intimate relationships, developed in partnership with Women's Aid. Since it began, it's been offered in eight locations across England and is currently available in Coventry, Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland.
- The model aims to respond to perpetration of domestic abuse at the earliest point possible, includes a behaviour change programme for people causing harm, support for partners and ex-partners, training and development for professionals and community outreach.Dec 8, 2025 10:51
- At Respect, the central team supports local delivery partners and works to embed and develop the intervention. Last year, Make a Change was part of a one-year innovative pilot health initiative alongside Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse (STADA) and the Crossing Pathways project.
- MaC is currently partnering with Neurodiverse Connection to make the model more inclusive and responsive to neurodivergent people and are part of a pilot led by @nikitarenee37.bsky.social with Community Justice Scotland and Probation North East, to develop a guide for practitioners.
