- I second Jennifer’s sentiments and feel this should be shared as well on the merits of Gladys Mae West’s accomplishments. And if the story winds up a racist, all I can say is, “too bad, snowflake.”
- No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition. Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
- Only 1 in 10 voters in Texas participate in primary elections. The primary is where people get to choose who represents them in a general election. Apathy and ignorance is why we’re in the mess we’re in. This is quite simply the most valuable guide to the primaries. Bookmark it, read it, share it.

- Yeah, buttercup, you fucking DO need a warrant. Just because VP Dipshit said ICE has “absolute immunity”, doesn’t avoid the FACT that we still have the 4th Amendment. Your bosses may be attempting to shred it, but we still have the law, we still have the constitution. Love your job, big guy?
- The only figure I quibble with is I thought we were lower in education. I was going over stats and looking at different indices and for some reason, I thought we were down a couple more percentage points. Man, if I hear anyone yell “USA! USA! USA!” at me, I hope I have a print-out to hand off.

- Harris County/Houston/Texas Dems, in the past few days we’ve seen a couple of things to give us reasonable hope for change. While I’m still chipping away at an “ICE in Houston” piece, here’s an update on elections, festivities, and a valuable download.
- Texans! I was at the Johnson - Jackson Lee - Richard’s dinner Saturday night when Taylor’s (& Christian Menefee’s) victory(ies) was announced. The Daily Koz piece here points out that this was a landslide victory (unlike the utter bullshit claim of You know who). Point is, 1/2
