...because it can mean focusing on oneself and ignoring the needs of the collective (the opposite of collectivism) or it can be used to mean that Satanism should be applied to one's own life in an individual way. I don't like the former. I do like the latter.

A lot of this has to do more with a philosophy applied in a healthy manner that if you're no good to yourself you're no good to the collective. Strong individuals create a strong community.
