- 57 years ago Martin Luther King Jr. called for a multiracial struggle to spur a “radical revolution of values.” Today, it’s clear why: the fight for justice requires an army bigger than just those directly oppressed. It will take race traitors and class traitors. It will take all of us.
- Students at 6 Spokane schools walked out of class to protest ICE agents’ mistreatment of immigrants and the killing of Renee Nicole Good by a Minneapolis ICE agent. While covering the LCHS event, Pascal felt hope and was reminded of the importance of student-led organizing.
- In a special session yesterday, Spokane City Council voted to accept a million dollar police grant from the Department of Justice. Out of 39 conditions, 1 requires police to give federal law enforcement information on immigrants and violates the Keep Washington Working Act.
- Rep. Hunter Abell covers WA's 7th District, which spans across Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry, and parts of Spokane and Grant counties. Abell gave RANGE his priorities for this legislative session, including private cemeteries and making English the official state language.
- Meeting info for the special session where council will discuss whether or not to accept the $1 million community policing grant from the Department of Justice that comes with some pretty Trump-ian conditions like banning DEI and requiring immigrant data handover:
- We are posted up outside LC High School here in Spokane, where hundreds of students have walked out of their class in protest of ICE. LC is one of six schools across the Spokane participating in the walkout, which was organized at a lunch table last Thursday.
